No and no.
No cellular radio, only WiFi.

Just like my tablet.

Why have another SIM card and account when it's right next to my phone with a wi-fi hot spot

Then why not just use your phone? I don't like carting 2 things around with me... (I know the gps is more accurate and what not but my phone has gotten me near enough to over 2500 caches - and it has live access which is why I don't use a real gps)

If it had a phone part to it I think that would be the ultimate geocacher's phone!

Reports are it is limited to Screen Resolution 272 x 480 pixels... meaning it cant run a lot of apps... like ingress where it would be very useful :(

Yet, once they add a sim card slot and boost the res they are on the right track ;)

The ability to download caches while in the field via your phone does have its attractions, as does having your Geocaching device separate from your PAF'ing device.

I like Monterra's connectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth (that's what I miss in Montana) but don't like the hybrid flavour.

Will the next Garmin after Monterra have full android phone capability.. again? And why not, it's a very lucrative market and considering that they are probably losing market share in GPS space to smartphones it's a good move for Garmin.

They have gone the other way from the Garmin-Asus A50, which was a phone with beefed up GPS. Great unit, still have mine. Just a little old now-days in Phone terms. Now they have gone the other way with a GPS with beefed up connectivity... the next logical step would be to marry the two idea and have the ultimate caching device :D

A heavy, environment proof, full android GPS Phone :D

Available this month from Johnny Appleseed for $752. Hmmm. Just a bit on the high side for me.

I'm really surprised there hasn't been a decent GPS with phone/data capability yet. I guess phones are so dominant now.
