Re: new GCA android app
Can you make an option to have white or black cos I don't have a problem reading it and also quite like the black background... it doesn't light up your face while crouching in the bushes trying to be stealthy.
Re: new GCA android app
I'll add that to the TODO list , ie theme support so you can choose background colours etc.. and maybe text size...CraigRat wrote:I must admit I find it hard to read the screen, especially the text that is in the lighter darker greys if there's any sunlight about
Re: new GCA android app
added a new feature (0.24) you can select a specific geocache to load , just select Main Menu Load -> Load a single Cache
just enter either TP# or GA# and it will be appended to your already loaded caches.
Should be available in the Market now.

First time frogging with gca app, works a treat, thanks to mtrax and the cacher who put me onto Locus. Now I can navigate.

Re: new GCA android app
No I can't upgrade - it's the Garmin Asus A50 (nuvifone) and whilst an update was put out as GarminAsus were dying, it introduces problems with GPS and stability according to widespread reports (including here). I'm quite comfortable with the features on 1.6 (pinch zoom is about all that I'd really like, and I have that for photography and browsing generally).mtrax wrote:There was quiet a bug jump from 1.6 to 2.1 but as far as what API level specific code I'm using I would have to comb through the whole app to figure that out.Briggbottoms wrote:Turns out it is not showing up because of the minimum version requirements. What features from 2.1 does it use that are not available in 1.6 mtrax?
I'm assuming you can't upgrade your device?
I'm the mean time I'll see if I can re-compile the current code for 1.6 users and put a separate APK but no guarantees at this stage but will try...
Thanks for considering it.

Woo Hoo this app is awesome. We are able to log the frogs on the move. No more getting it wrong! Just when we get home are tidying up our logs a bit and inserting frogs or smilies to make it look prettier.
but the important bit that they are picked up or moved we are doing in the field!
Absolutely super duper! thanks Heaps!

Re: new GCA android app
Um, I am such a tool
I've been using GA cacher for a while, especially with the LeapFrog game. I've been a little annoyed when it comes to the compass rose that I have been using. GA Cacher doesn't have a built in compass, so I've been using Locus Free. Locus free (for me) has always jumped around with regards to the direction it's pointing. Most of the time to the point of uselessness. I have just looked the distance counter and walked in directions where the number to the target is getting smaller.
Well, I found something today that makes me very embarrassed, but I thought I'd share it with you.
I have my phone in a case. It looks something like this.
The case has a fold over flap at the top to stop it all falling out.
What do you think keeps the flap attached to the body or case?
A magnet.
What do magnets do to compasses?
Doh!
Now I just flip the magnetic clasp all of the way out of the way and the compass rose points perfectly in the correct direction.
Doh!
I feel so silly, but I'd thought I'd share this with you just in case you have made the same foolish error I have been making for a while.
