Flash lights

Muh :)

It's winter inAustralia ... Getting dark damed earlie ... And It's the time to go for NighCaches :)
So, you miss night caches in your Area? Change it! =)

But even if you are not going for a night cache you also need a Flash Light to find caches in the dark! :O

so, this is a hardware and software area . . . I did not find a "equipment" Thread, so I post here :)

So, what flashlight do you have at home? May be a MagLight 3D? And you think: "thats a good one, its bright". I can tell you, its not! :P

I'm using a TK 35 from Fenix for geocaching. This does 830 AnsiLumen! Also important is it to have a good lamp on your Head, where I recomend a "zwei BrĂ¼der" H7.

Why I'm writing this? I think a lot of you did never think about the flashlight you are using, but speacial in winter it's one of the most important part of your equipment. Even as important at the gps you are using =)

I will post links for some "recommended" flash lights later, when the batery of my galaxy tab is charged :P

Soltus

A lot of geocachers down here use torches from dealextreme.com - some are actually good quality and they are dead-cheap.

Pick the German who is new, and pick the German who is using the local lingo :D :D

At any rate, Chip and I each use a Princeton Tec Eos for caching, camping, night canyoning and night walking. We also each use a Petzl MYO XP for caving. There are also a couple of maglites stashed throughout the car for the rare times that we feel the need for a hand torch.

Muh :)

I like Petzl ... they are doing very professional lights who are made for very extreme situations ... :)
"Princeton Tec" I never heared about bevore ... I just checked the homepage .. looks very good at the fist look :P

I also checked dealextreme.com. And I did found a crazy thing ... have a look:
http://www.ledlenser.com/US/products/ht ... php?id=h7r
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/flood-to-t ... -aaa-44500

So, is it a copy or only anothere brand?

And here is the link for the Fenix TK35 http://www.fenixlight.com/viewnproduct.asp?id=86 ... It's even brighter then the TK 45 and it fits in you pocket :P
I'm not shure if fenix sells torches to australia. At dealextrem I did also see a couple of lamps that look like fenix, but they are labeld different.

Greetings,
Soltus

I also use this headlamp for caching. Great light and easy to use with boh hands free.

I also have a LED Lensor P7 Hand torch that is quite handy.

I too carry a P7 as well as a cheap version for the Geokids when they come out after dark.

Additionally I sometimes use my Black Diamond caving headlamp or more often a cap I brought from the hardware store that has LED's in the peak. One long distance (not very long actually but has done well on a night cache before) and two smaller downward pointing LED's for signing logs and the sort. Very handy hands free light.

I've got a bit of a thing about flashlights. 8-[

I have a small Petzel headlamp, keep a tiny Fenix E01 (one AAA, 10 lumens) in my handbag, and also have a Fenix LD10 (single AA battery, max 100 lumens) and a Fenix PD30 (awesome, 2 x CR123 batteries, max 220 lumens). The PD30 is great at night.

No, I was being a bit suspicious that it might have been a disguised advertisement as we'd had a few of these here. But I'm wrong, and I aplogise if I caused any upset. It's nice to see a visitor join us to chat about things :)
