Assistance with GPS cache upload/download software
Assistance with GPS cache upload/download software
Hi, total newbie to Geocaching but not to GPS's.
I have just updated my GPS from a Garmin 60C to the new 62S and been playing with it over the past few days.
Now, I have managed to donwload caches relevant to Victoria and uploaded them successfully using the trial verson of GSAK and also GPSBabel.
My question is, whatdo most users use to upload caches to their GPS units?
Happy to pay the one off $25 for full version of GSAK but if others are more popular (cheaper and/or easier to use) please advice.
thanks in advance

Definitely GSAK.
Great support, huge user base to get questions answered and to borrow others macros to further enhance. The product.

I have to agree GSAK. The other advantage is that ClydE doesn't care how many computers you run it on, for me it runs on both my home and work PCs and I don't have to pay 2 licences. Support is great, the writer is friendly - in my case I had a hard disk crash and lost things. He was only too happy to email my activation code for it for the new PC. And that in spite of me having changed email addresses since I originally purchased it.

GSAK.
Set up the PQs (Pocket Query/ies) feature on one or more cache lising sites.
Drag the resulting .ZIP file/s straight to a GSAK database.

Use the getmail function. No intervention, just press the "go" button.PesceVerde wrote:GSAK.

File
Get data via email
Fill in the form.
It goes out to your mailbox on your server, grabs the GPX files, loads them in and Bob's your uncle.

That's the instructions in GSAK to automatically load all your gpx files that are in your email box into your GSAK database. You just have to put your email address into the GSAK form and then it's all done for you when you select "Get Data via Email" from then on.caughtatwork wrote:File

Well, yeah, but where's the fun in learning if I give step by step instructions?
Life should be an experience, not handed to you on a platter

Re: Assistance with GPS cache upload/download software
thanks heaps again..........
Tonight I played with the software and actually saved the cache files from this site to my desktop and then imported it into the GSAK tool. From their I connected my GPS and uploaded them............over 4000 from Victoria and within a few seconds, they are all in my GPS located under Geocache...........that seemed easy enough.............so now you can automate it even moreso from email..........awesome..........
