Hi there, I hope I'm putting this in the right place...
I use a Garmin GPSMap 62s with TOPO Australia & New Zealand maps. I've found that some - but not all - of the dead ends in my area are being autorouted through. The map appears to show that the route is not passable in a car, and I have checked that I am set to autoroute for a car and not a bicycle or pedestrian.
Does anyone know if it there is a way to fix this?

Hi. As a first guess,
from the Map page go to Menu > Menu > Setup > Routing >
Set to
Guidance Meathod: Prompted
Calculate Routes for: Car/Motorcycle
Lock on Road: No
Offroad Transitions: Auto
Avoidance Setup > "Do Not Avoid" for all except U-turns
If you live in a new ish area the maps may not be 100% current.
Is it just your area that causes problems?
If the auto-routing is still not satisfactory, I'd contact Garmin.

I've checked my settings and they do match the ones you gave me. The area I'm in, however, is not new. I'm not aware of any significant changes to the roads in the last fifteen to twenty years. I've only had a GPS for a few days (previously google maps were my friend) and so haven't noticed problems in other areas, but that may happen later.
Whilst the area I'm in doesn't concern me as I know it very well, I'm a little more concerned about other areas. As I say, the maps appear quite accurate... it's very strange. I was hoping there was a way I could fix this myself but I might just have to call garmin.

Hi. Just a couple of other ideas:
If you haven't done so already, you could update to the most current 62S software (version 2.80).
The WebUpdater for the 62S can be downloaded from here

Once installed to computer, connect the 62S and run the program. The Updater will find the most recent software and download it to the 62S. This may help with the auto-routing.
Also when going through
Find > Waypoints (for example) > Waypoint 123 (for example) > Go > ,
select On Road for Time, and press Enter
