Android Phone App

Post by Sunshine Toledo » 23 October 10 7:17 pm

Have bought an android phone a couple of weeks ago and have been away from home base the last week and would like to know if there is a way ie an app that shows you the caches in the area that you are in. That is without having to download a query before hand and loading it. Could it just run over the top of the Map Program already in the phone and pinpoint the caches near wherever I am???
Thanks..

C:geo and the Groundspeak geocaching app both do this, although they can both also use PQs that you've copied onto the card.

c:geo is good and free, but might have hassles with Groundspeak sometime over data scraping.

The Groundspeak app is $10 and is only OK at the moment, but it's being worked on (I'm a beta tester, BTW) and will get better and better (until they break it!)

There's others as well, but these are the two I've used (today, in fact. The new beta has a broken feature that made me switch to c:geo to find one cache!)

Thanks Ian; I might wait until they are more reliable.

Oh, c:geo works just fine, and there's no risk since it's free!

Downloaded c:geo from the Market and it looks like exactly what I want. Thanks.
