Getting a Garmin Nuvi 500 outdoors

Post by funkydan2 » 05 July 10 1:59 pm

I've recently bought a Garmin Nuvi 500 to improve our geocaching experience.

We're finding it a fairly good machine - easy to use for paperless caching and a fairly sensitive receiver (and good in the car as well).

However, as is widely known, it's not the nicest thing to hold in your hand whilst your on the trail, and it doesn't have anyway to attach a lanyard in order to keep it a bit more secure.

I was wondering if anyone out here in internet land has hacked together anything to make it easier to manage out and about.

Thanks,
Daniel

Daniel,

I also stated out with Nuvi 500 and had same issues - couldn't come up with an easy fix that would allow quick swap between car & foot duty.....

So just perservered while I saved the pennies and added an Oregon 300 to the caching kit...- problem then solved - except geodaughter now wants a Dakota (having spied 1 as recent OzMega)
