These NiZn cells look interesting and might let you have a go at the 24 hour record without needing to carry spare batteries!

Of course, GPSrs aren't especially high-drain devices, so these might be better suited to camera flashes and high-power flashlights.

Looks promising.

Wonder how they stack up against the Eneloop's as I'm more than happy with the life of them!

Eneloop's are MY rechargeable of choice.

Any ideas about the shelf life of NiZn?
That's my favourite thing about the eneloop and the other low self discharge NiMh batteries.

The capacity isn't that great at 1500mAh. The low self discharge NiMh batteries seem to be 2100mAh or 2000mAh.

Found the spec sheet thanks to google. http://www.powergenix.com/docs/powergenix-specs-aa.pdf

From the comments I could find the NiZn seem to be able deliver more of their rated capacity than NiMh in high drain devices like camera flashes. This makes sense but probably makes them less desirable for GPSrs.

Wouldn't that be nice! I think it took 3 sets for the 24 hours.

Hey Shane, do you think this forum could stand a 12 volt thread ? :D
