Didn't know which to buy so I have bought both, Well a Colorado 300 and a 60csx. Also NUVI 250 and a Northstar 657 for the boat, Oh a Nokia 5800 to replace our N96 with GPS and a Bluetooth GPS for the PDA. I have a Garmin GPS16 HVS for the laptop as well.
Note to self "stop buying GPS's"

Given the choice of the two, I voted for the GPSMap60sx only because the Oregon 400i is an American model loaded with inland lakes maps - not very useful in Australia. I own a 400t (with Australian topo maps), and I think it rocks. That said, there are many other possibilities.

As for your purchase, don't leave it to us to decide. Read reviews, try out other cachers' GPSr's, decide what features and attributes are important to you, and form your own opinion. You may even (Heaven forbid :P) prefer a Magellan.

Heathen. You're lucky I've misplaced the ban stick.

I'd try and pick up a Oregon 300 somewhere for a good price as the difference between the 300 and 400 is really only the maps, and you should be able to pick up an Oregon 300 and the maps for less than a 400, the added bonus being you'll have the maps on DVD to use in mapsource/basecamp

There are some reasonable demos on Youtube now so you can see the features of some of the new GPSs. There are some pretty bad demos there too, so look at a few.
