iPhone Geocaching App V2.3

Post by firesafe » 16 August 09 4:35 pm

GC has released a new version of the Geocaching App for the iPhone.

Has some more features particularly with the straight to log from the iPhone instead of field notes.

3GS compass is supported

Trackable Items is now visible on the geocache list

Some bug fixes.

Will be interested to try the straight to log feature next time I am out ....

I tried it out Sunday and posted log to Fork (GCWX2G) straigh from iPhone.

3GS compass support is a huge improvement, I never use to use the compass feature of the app due to it being far too inaccurate & confusing, but now its a doddle.

Has become my 'wonder whats here?' caching tool of choice.

Does the log still appear in your field notes as well or does it do a straight log to the website.

Also do you know if it does a post on twitter like the field notes does.

It logs straight to the website.

Not sure about twitter as I don't use it.

Unfortunately the yanks still can't handle time zones outside their own. Any logs lodged directly from the phone will have the date in the US at the time of lodging, not the date here.

Yes, I noticed that as well Kevl. Discovering that was a bit disappointing, unlike discovering caches.

Edit: to fix up name.

Just a heads up that 3.01 has now been released.

The apparent fixes are faster maps, fixed problems with zoom, and music still plays when you are using the app when in an I-pod.

I still prefer geosphere for caching. It allows for GCA caches as well
