Discussion about software such as GSAK, OziExplorer etc, as well as all things hardware, GPSrs, laptops, PDAs, paperless caching, cables etc

Colorado locks up on opening some caches - yours too?

Post by djcache » 07 September 08 10:16 pm

Hi all,

I've been caching with a Colorado 300 since May. Very happy with it. I have noticed though that sometimes it locks up.

I noticed on a log tonight that Tealby had the same problem as I did trying to open the description for Woozle Hunt V1.2 in Melbourne.

So my question is:

Have you found a cache note that locks up your Colorado?

If so:
a. What was the cache in question? Cache number & Name
eg. GC4756, Woozle Hunt V1.2

b. What version of Colorado are you running?
eg. Colorado 300

c. What firmware?
Setup -> Options -> Software Version
Mine says Software Version 2.40 Unit ID.... GPS Software Version 2.60

Might be a pattern in cache notes that we can identify. I'll have to go back to my Canberra GPX file and see if I can work out which ones there tripped it up.

hi djcache, I don't have a Colorado, but Mischief's Crew have a Colorado 300 and they said it locks up on caches
that have html links to other caches etc. Such as a link to an archived cache or other caches the owner has etc.
You can ask Mischief's Crew for more info, I'm sure they'd be happy to tell you more than I can.

I just looked up 'Woozle Hunt' and I see Tealby had the same problem. No html links there so I think it may be the
inverted commas and degree symbol characters as they are MS Word characters it seems to me, and not the standard
" and ' characters. Maybe the Colorado doesn't like displaying those characters? That's just my guess anyway. :?:
I couldn't even paste those 3 characters in to this post as I got a debug error!
Cheers, Mal

I'll upload this to my Colorado tonight and see how it goes.

I wonder if the Oregon has the same problem ?

I've just added the file to my unit and I didn't have any problems.

I have taken screen shots of every page and logs if you want to see

Maybe reinstall the Unit Software

Mine says Software Version 2.60 Unit ID.... GPS Software Version 2.60

Thanks guys. It'll be interesting to see where this thread goes. Hadn't thought about the word characters.
