I see the place I used to live in Sydney in the 90's is now covered in graffiti. :( At least the trees I planted have grown a little.

Someone mentioned this during lunch at work today. I wonder if the IT dept noticed the enormous spike in traffic after lunch!

This could be pretty handy for geocaching too. Not so much for looking at a cache location, except perhaps for drive bys, but for getting a general feeling for the area and finding parking it would be great.

I note that neither the GC or GCA Google map views incorporate the change, so I'm guessing it doesn't happen automatically for sites using the Google API. Would be good to see however.

It's a non-trivial change, you have to do a fair bit to get it working.
I am looking at it for the GCA site, but it may be a few days away at best.

Well our IT department sure did! They blocked access to the google maps site for the short term, as the increase in network traffic had totally clogged our internet gateway :)

I went looking for what to do and there are a couple o' new widgets to plug in and stuff, but then I got distracted by the geocaching licences and that was more fun :-)

You need more beer anyway, so when you deploy that change make sure you add in the auto calculator for beery goodness then charge the users the appropriate cost.

Have pinpointed the date for when they did Goolwa. 21st January 2008.

Question?
How do you save the pic of the street view?

Must be possible because I was on a website last night that had it saved , adn you could still move the image around or use arrows to go left right etc.

The coverage is pretty darn good, what I did amazing though, is that, whilst they have "recorded" so many places. I was looking at the small town where my parents live, it has like 10-15 streets if it is lucky, only about half of it was recorded, partial streets etc.

Even on major highways, there are segments missing. But, still, it's a bit of fun.
