Explorist XL reading SD Card from Explorist 500

Post by CanSolo » 01 June 08 4:28 pm

Will an explorist XL read the caches on an SD card that was originally in an exolporist 500??

If so, how can it be forced to read the information??

Should do - its just a file held in the Geocaches folder on the sd card.
You can activate it by going into Menu - Active Map (or Active Setup) and arrow down to the geocache section

Explorist XL reading card from Explorist 500

not sure if this well help but I do know that maps from XL can be downloaded into a 500. Suggest downloading to computer then trying to reload onto the new model... The hardest part would be getting the Computer to recognize the GPS in my humble opinion. Mr Gates fine product can sometimes take days, Apple/Mac can be much better.. Anyway my 500 with XL maps is great even if the maps have to be broken up into sorta half state units... ie in the case of say Vic... Melb city and close environs as Vic1 and then Vic2 the remainder of rural Vic... et adfinitum for the rest of Aus
