Does this thread need a teapot?
Can't tell if I'm reading it right or wrong.

Gallet, are you using high capacity rechargeables? They're longer and wider than 'normal' AAs. I had the same problem getting a set of 2500mAh out of my etrex, no problems with the 1650mAh set or non rechargeable AAs.

WHY?. Are their engineers insane.

With all the bad stuff you've been saying about your GPS, i will give $100!!
Sounds like i might be getting the raw end here.
When you sell it, get yourself a GPSmap 60CSx. End of argument, read: discussion.

This must be the punishment that Garmin metes out to those who don't buy the high end models.
Nope. Pennance for not getting a Magellan.
Our Magellan SporTrak Map has the same "problem". One battery goes the "right" way (spring on the negative), one goes the "wrong" way (spring on the positive). The only device I've ever seen to do that.
Ooooohhhhh.. Shot down Damo
Never mind. My 60CSx is great and my new Vista (read above post) will be fine.

Are you suggesting that the solution to Garmin's error is we should all use crap batteries. I should note that I had the same problem using standard alkalines.
Not crap batteries, just ones that fit. I get around 14 hours use out of the 1650mAh ones, which I find adequate.

Do you know how hard it is find a teapot that requires batteries.
I wasn't going to post one but Mix's mother told me too.

Probably a hell of a lot easier than it would be trying to find a photo of the battery compartment of said teapot
