Not sure which website your looking at GIN51E, next destination site leads to magellan which still shows the 500 firmware that covers the 600 still. My 600 seems to work OK?, so I will leave it how it is until a newer version comes out?

look at the firmware version between the 500 & 600 here http://www.nextdestination.com.au/Pages ... e=Magellan

and if you click on the 600 link and it takes you to the Magellan site look as the firmware version and you will see its 2.03 compared to the 500's 2.57

See what u mean....the upgrade is still located here which includes the 500 and 600.

The only difference between the 500 and 600 is the compass to my knowledge.

Just confirming that firmware V2.57 on my 600 does not record all of the geocaching "finds" once the unit is switched off and on. It only shows 3 finds....

Whats with the "on again", "off again" V2.57 version for the eXp 600? My 2.57 has the following bugs....Found caches are wrong after unit is turned off then on and, Goto POI symbols are now invisible!! Not that happy and looking for the next release of firmware?

I ended up giving up on Magellan when the explorist 600 died...bought a Garmin 60Csx, great unit...after having 3 magellan units, colour, platinum and 600.. i should have bought a garmin in the first place.

I chose the 600 for a number of reasons:

1) Runs Aus topo maps which cannot be beat.
2) 14 channels
3) small size
4) water resistant
5) great e-compass...

It is just the crappy firmware that lets it down! (PS I previously owned a Garmin).
