Garmin Screen Repair

Post by Ebenezer » 11 February 04 10:08 am

Any ideas on where to get a Garmin eTrex screen repaired?

My screen has been stuffing up for months, but I couldn't bear to be without it, and so I have delayed getting it repaired (to the point that it is now out of warranty - smart).

Find out who your local GME dealer is and take it to them.

www.gme.net.au I think ?

I'll send GME an e-mail and ask them what they suggest.

GME say to send the unit to their service department (along with a description of the fault, receipt, contact details etc) and they will take a look. They say turnaround time is generally 4-5 working days. The phone number for their service department in Sydney (not sure if they do repairs in other states) is 02 9879 8850. Their e-mail is sddept@gme.net.au.

As sick as my poor eTrex is, I'm not sure I can part with it for 4-5 days!

I had mine done here in SA, it was sent to Melb or Syd though.
It took 4 days and they covered it under warranty even though it was a couple of months out.

If yours is still in warranty send it in. wait and you'll end up paying.

TP.

<P> Put it in on the Monday, get it back on the Friday ready for the weekend. Simple!

You can always take advantage of the Riblit Etrex rental service.

Low rates, genuine yellow etrex with batteries... :)

I just called GME. They will fix my screen under warranty (even though it was slightly out of warranty).

As I have a day off tomorrow, I can go pick it up. Woohoo!
