See!

Hopefully Google Earth is soon to follow with this addition.

I dunno though - where's the challenge now? :?:

Shouldn't it be just you and the GPSr? :)

Using all these maps is just wimpy

Why not require a homing beacon in the cache

What!!!! As a self confessed map nutcase, i don't leave home without knowing precisely where i am going, must come with the career territory.

In all seriousness though, route optimisation is the key, especially with Urban caching. Plus i've got to GZ with use of my beautiful maps and still spent ages looking for the cache.

No Problems!!!!!

Would you like the beacon in Morse, Reverse Morse, DTMF etc etc

I've tried bread crumbs but the ratbag muggle magpies keep eating them.

Zoom level 4 looks good to me. Also looks like a reasonable dataset they've got too. The PSMA is the only outfit I can think of that'd have property boundaries for all of Australia. Looks like their roads data is sourced from somewhere different though. Still, it all looks good. About bluddy time too!

Perhaps a zoom level or two out from there. Give a wider suburb view. Especially in the country where that zoom level will give you a big green square with a waypoint in the middle of it.

Gotta learn me the Google Maps API!!!! Changing the spn value didn't seem to have any effect?

Them sounds like fightin' words.

Coming soon to a Geocaching battlefield near you, the Mindsocket V Sc00t showdown! Two GPSr's enter, one GPSr leaves....

There are a number of commercial property boundary datasets but anything that covers the whole of Australia can only be sourced via PSMA under license.

The road dataset looks like the UBD maps, or is sourced from the same dataset, as there are the same slight errors in alignment visible between the electronic version and a printed UBD map of Perth.

Level 4 looks great for suberbia, but some of the county ones will need to be zoomed out to give some idea of where it is....
eg one of mine is
http://maps.google.com/?ll=-27.947,153.059&spn=4
Only shows up one street.... :?
But still great to see improvements in current system :)

Heh, I was just connecting Bunya's and sc00t's statements, it sounds like they agree that way.

- Rog ... my GPSr already has a crack in it.
FWIW, I avail myself of all this mapping technology when it's convenient too
