GSAK PQs by email
I have been cleaning up my PQ's and adjusting the settings to download 1000 which is the max. but now when the email comes through and I try to upload to GSAK the file is empty but it worked perfectly fine before when I had the PQs set to 500. Any ideas why this function is no longer working properly???

Re: GSAK PQs by email
PQs with more than 500 caches are NOT emailed. You need to go to the GC site and download them manually.

Re: GSAK PQs by email
Upgrade GSAK to Version 8 and it will download them for you.
It's wonderful.
Your PQs are generated as per normal and are accessible from the Pocket Queries page at gc.com, on the "Pocket Queries ready for download" tab.
You can then use the GSAK menu command Geocaching.com Access> Download Pocket Queries
to download them and update GSAK. Then you can delete the PQ on the gc.com page.
Alternatively,
you can use the GSAK menu command Geocaching.com Access> Download Pocket Queries > Advanced Tab > Download all PQs not yet downloaded
and not bother going into gc.com to delete the ones you've downloaded, just letting them auto delete after a week.
There are other options too.

At the moment GSAK 8 is BETA, so I wouldn't use it as a primary tool.

It has been stable for some time now.
If you do upgrade it will eventually cost some $$ though.

It's the best beta software you'll ever see, and it will be well worth the small amount of dollars it will eventually cost.ian-and-penny wrote:I wouldcaughtatwork wrote:At the moment GSAK 8 is BETA, so I wouldn't use it as a primary tool.

The changes and corrections being applied are usually very esoteric and do not affect the normal user in any way.
If you live in a European country with unusual alphabets or county names, or you're a power macro user, you may see the odd fix coming through, but for us ordinary boys and girls it's as solid as any other software you're likely to be using.

Re: GSAK PQs by email
I'm just saying that it's a BETA.
If you use it as your primary tool and it goes wonky on you, then for the average user it may be tricky to recover from it.
I have 7.x installed and 8 (build 118) installed at the same time. That way I get stability and when I feel like it I play with the new one. I will use 7.x as my primary tool until 8 comes out of BETA then I will upgrade.

Yep, install to a GSAK8 folder and they will be happily installed.
You can't run them at the same time, but shut down one, start the other and all is good.

Ive kept 7 installed just in case... but with my 100,000 UK Waypoint database now 100% up to date (10 to 11,000 Caches a Day updated between PQ's and GSAK Daily updates... which DO catch archived caches! ) I havent used 7 in a month

Re: GSAK PQs by email
V8 is fantastic, thanks for pointing it out and the Pqs download again via email. Nice! @caught@work. Thanks for the tip on how to keep both versions. Easy peasy!
