Clyde,

the latest upgrade is great. I particularly like the ability to add photos to the notes. I have created some HTML entries to point to my photos such as

<a href="file://F:Geocaches - PhotosGCJP7K Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor - Location 1.JPG"><img src="file://F:Geocaches - PhotosGCJP7K Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor - Location 1.JPG" width="210" height="145" alt="" border="0" align=""></a>

This effectively gives me thumbnails I can click on to display the full photo. My question is - is there a way that I can tailor the effects of the Add Picture button to put in my HTML rather than the standard <img ... code?

Also, if you ever are wondering what else to do with GSAK, could you consider allowing the selection of multiple photos at the one time.

Thanks, and keep up the great work.

Muzza

Currently no - but there is always the "to do" list. What were you thinking of here - the ability to set items like width, height, alt, border, align or something else?

Good idea, hadn't thought of that - next release :)

<p>I was thinking along the lines of having a file xxxxx.html which would contain the information to be used when Add Photo was pressed. The actual filename could be substituted for %photo within the HTML.</p>
<P>If there were multiple photos, then the text would be used repeatedly with different values of %photo each time.<p>

I have had a few users ask me:

"It would be good if you could click on a cache and add it to my watch list" and
"It would be nice to click on a cache and open up the log page"

You can do this now by adding custom URLs. For the two above add:

Add cache to watch list=http://www.geocaching.com/my/watchlist.aspx?w=%gcid
Log cache=http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?ID=%gcid

And don't forget if you prefix any custom URL name with ! (Exclamation mark) a link will be generated in any HTML pages that GSAK generates.

To add a custom URL, Tools=>Options=Html and if you need more help click here http://www.gsak.net/help/hs7730.htm

Thanks Clyde, that worked a treat. :D

I'm wondering if it is worth distributing GSAK via a software download service such as Tucows. They have mirror sites all over the net and are (apparently) free to list through. Instead of your server copping the stress of heavy downloads when a new release is anounced, the load is shared across the net.

It's just a thought...

This link can be used to remove a cache from your watch list

Remove cache from watch list=http://www.geocaching.com/my/watchlist. ... action=rem

This brings me to the question. Does a GPX file contain the data of which caches you are watching?

If so is there a way we can see in GSAK which caches we are watching? This would make it really easy for me (being an approver) to remove the countless caches I dont have to watch anymore.

Unfortunately not. There was a thread on the gc.com forum asking Jeremy to add this but as yet it is not available.

If I abort the install process does not the installer delete the files that it has placed on the computer.

The installer does not place any files on your computer until after you click on the last dialog. If at any time before this you abort the install, there are no files to remove.

G'day All,
<p>
Here's something I have noticed lately, and I'm wondering whether it might be a result of the general performance problems that we've been experiencing at gc.com.
<p>
I generate a Pocket Query every day for all caches I've found. Several times over the past three weeks or so the PQ has included the new caches that I had logged on the previous day, but my log was not in there. I probably wouldn't've noticed this, but good old GSAK alerted me. The caches are certainly loaded in to the database, but are shown as 'not found' by GSAK. When I looked into the GPX files, I found that the last log was from several days earlier.
<p>
It would seem that I was receiving up-to-date 'found' statistics, but that the GPX file was being generated from an old snapshot of the data.
<p>
Has anyone else seen this?
<p>
Cheers,
<p>
dak

I don't know if this has been asked for yet... any chance of a distance submenu? broken down into say 100 klms intervals or something more suitable? Similar to the submenus for "placed by, or, name of" selectors, for use under the Distance from Home Menu.

And thanks for the hard work Clyde, I just upgraded to 4.02... very nice...

Sorry I don't quite understand your question. What "placed by" sub menu are you referring to?

Do you mean something on the right click menu?

Could you also explain what this "sub menu" of options would actually do

Thanks
Clyde

Sorry, just a poorly worded request... When generating documents in Isilo or such, Could there be a sub index for quick selection under Home - Distance ?, like the placed by index.... there is the little sub index that allows you to move down to the index to the letter that you are after.... so that I could jump down to the caches that were say 100klms to 200klms from home instead of having to scroll through the whole Distance - Home list.

I hope I am a bit clearer now.

Thanks Swampy, that is much clearer (except for forgetting to check the box "disable HTML in this post" :wink: )

I will add this in a future release.
