Google Earth 4.2 - GA feed no longer has icons
When I updated Google Earth to 4.2 (not sure what from) I now no longer get the nice icons for tradition, multi and puzzle caches.
Currently I have something that looks like a shopping bag for all caches except puzzles, which are thunder and lightning I think

The current ones seem to be 64 x 64 pixels, saved as pngJustcameron wrote:Not great, but in case I want to try anyway, what are the requirements?
ie. dimensions, number of icons, for what cache types, filesize, fie type,
I'll grab the cache type list from the code..
No, copyright in the gc.com ones is owned by Groundspeak and the google ones by Google. As far as I know, neither company has placed them in the public domain. If we used them without permission we would be infringing their copyright and would be open to a claim for damages.Justcameron wrote: can we just use the icons from the old feed? or from geocaching.com?

The old ones were installed on a users local machine as part of the Google Earth installation. The latest update has removed them.Justcameron wrote:The old icons that used to be used are still there (on Google's servers.)

I had a bit of a mess around with the package icon from Tango. Unfortunately I couldn't get SVG happening for me, so they're on 32x32 at the moment.
The current feed relies on the icons being installed on the local machine. Now that Google has removed them, there is a good chance the latest version won't access the old pallette.
You can try if you like by loading the pallette onto your computer.
We have to rewrite the code that generates the data feed to incorporate out own icons, so nothing will happen until the next site update.
I'm browsing the KML documentation, the samples now show the icons being referenced from a server via http, rather than from a local machine.
