I have tried a few POI sites and found them to be pretty much useless, in that the files don't contain what they claim to contain (eg ALL Shell service stations may have 50% in some states and 0% in others) or the data is out of date (50% of the Shell service stations shown have been closed down for over 12 months)

I have created some POIs for myself although they are usually only of use to me (eg my clients)

But sharing of POIs amongst cachers would be a good idea as we have common interests.

Another problem would be that you could have different generations of he same file for example speed cameras(taking up space). It would need someone to coordinate the files eg one person to handle the uploading of the files then anybody could download the latest files.

Like Dik, I have had a similar experience.

I am interested in developing an accurate POI file for BP servos. (If anyone has, or can obtain, a complete address listing of every BP servo in Aust, then I'm prepared to give it a go.) Without the listing, I would welcome any feedback and/or comments etc on the best way to go about it.

Once that's complete I may have a go at one for Shell, but as I currently get a 10% discount at BP you will understand where my priorities lie.

Cheers

Ian

someplace that you could add or remove a submitted poi without having to republish the version of the file.
something like a hybrid of waymarking.com and Geocaching, where you could do queries to a POI file or GPX format.

Hmmm. some more thinking and searching is required....
The data could be kept on a database and the POI files created as needed.
As long as the database is kept up to date it would work.

Generally we make our own poi's but have found lots on the net.
It would be ok to include info here in a topic !

have a look here, You may already have their BP list, but it may help you get started, if it is not comprehensive,or up to date.

No cache. No POI.
Cache. POI.
Solved.
