Site stops responding
The last week or so the gca site has become unusable for me from home, although the problem seems to have been developing for several weeks.
I find I can connect to forum.geocaching.com.au, but when I click the "View posts since last visit" link (usually the next thing I do), the site stops working. I then get no response with any browser (Firefox, lynx) nor curl or wget, or even telnet to port 80, although the tcp connection is established.
Once the problem has started, I get no response from any of the domains hosted nn the same IP address.
I can temporarily get it back by aquiring a new IP address from my ISP (Internode).
Another geocacher suggested that the shared host may be locking me out due to high resource usage, but this doesn't seem to happen from my work connection.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Is there anything I can do about it?

and yep, im with internode as well, though i havent worried about rebooting the router when i have problems.
Next time i get the problem though, ill run up a terminal server session and see if the problem happens through the work internet at the same time (which isnt with internode)

it doesnt make sense that the first couple of pages are served up, then after that it times out. If it was a DNS problem, then it wouldnt be able to resolve the site/domain, so you would end up with nothing
Bronze, tried the tape, but i only ended up wrapping myself in it, and it took forever to unravel my way out of it

This has been happening on and off for some time but in my case the work around is to start a new browser window (sometimes a couple of times) then continue so I have assumed that something just happens with that particular session/connection and it isn't a whole server problem.ideology wrote:hmmm... it could be apache dying again
we'll take a look
I'm on Telstra Cable BTW.

I think I'm having the same problem!
Also on Internode.
Sorry I didn't see this thread before creating mine:

Team Unicycle, the IP addresses you are being assigned are they in the (121.44.0.0/16) subnet by any chance?
