Child Waypoints

Post by CraigRat » 25 March 07 11:53 am

Would you use additional waypoints if we added them to the GCA cache listing system?

for example, to show parking spots/places of interest near the cache/track turning points etc etc?

I hid a cache yesterday and I wouldn't have minded something like it...as per all my additions to GCA they are driven by my own selfish needs :-)

I would make the system a bit less confusing than other sites implementations (hopefully).

There is no timeframe for this yet...the to-do list is quite long, but if I see enough responses, I'll push it up the list as they could be quite useful.

As long as you don't make it as hideous and sucky as the other one, I'd be happy.

The input method needs major work over there, as does the naming conventions.

Agree. Better naming conventions.

Me too....however i found the taskbar setup for nearest caches too invasive. I like the search for cachers by ISP handy. :P

Who knew about that site before?
Certainly not I.
There's a lot of useful widgets at that site.

Excuse my ignorance, but has there been any progress on this?

Just setting up a cache with this in mind. Also want to add the final waypoint (Mystery), but keep that one hidden from view.

No progress,

I have toyed with it, but there were practical issues like how it gets handled in GPX files etc that made it all a bit too hard (getting it to work with GSAK etc will require a fair bit of coordination with clydE)

I'll add it back on my list.

for now, if you want to store the last waypoint, turn on the co-ord checker, put the waypoint in there, save it and turn the checker off, and it'll store the value there.

Dumb question time - where is the co-ord checker located?

On the edit a cache page, but I think it's only available for a mystery / puzzle cache.
