GCA 2.0: New release!

Post by ideology » 02 November 06 10:47 am

after months of hard coding and bug squashing, caughtatwork, craigrat and riblit have developed GCA 2.0!

it has all sorts of features: maps, plots, tags and other doodads. in fact, we don't know half the features because we have done minimal development on this release.

BIG THANKS TO C@W, CRAIGRAT AND RIBLIT!
WE KNOW THE HOURS AND HOURS OF HARD SLOG YOU HAVE PUT IN TO THIS - YOU GUYS ROCK!

also: THANKS TO DAMO AND ZACTYL FOR ALL YOUR BETA TESTING!

we've put it into production. there are still a few bugs related to moving it across: some of the gallery stuff isn't fully working yet (something to do with permissions).

we wanted them to do the announcement but they are too busy at the moment (probably working on more stuff!) so we thought we'd at least send out a big thanks to them on behalf of everyone here.

it would be good to get a list of all the new features, so if someone sees something whizzo, please post it here. we aren't sure how the guys want to get bug reports (either in this thread or new threads) so if you see something strange, just post away and we are sure they'll let you know the best way of receiving it!

again: awesome job guys! thanks!

Thanks for the kind words i! (and thanks for...well..everything!)

I've got limited access to the net right now, but hopefully a full feature list will be posted this evening once we get OUR heads around all the changes.

Post any bugs to this thread and we will deal with it!

Looks great :!: :!: :!: Congrats to the guys for a top job as usual

Great to see that the problems with the buttons in IE7 have been fixed.

Good to see that there has been a link to C@W's site for the stats, as its a cool feature that not everyone knew about. Like the links to cachers homepages.

The new icons for finds, DNF's, GCA caches etc, look pretty good as well.

So many new toys, so little time to play :D

Fantastic - had a good play - love the tags too. And the locationless.

Only bug I found was on cache lists there was often a red X next to a cache indicating that it couldn't find and image - didn't seem to have been consistent what the image was. EDIT - This was after a search. Image was probably archived, or owned or that sort of thing. Very left hand column.

Tags might be a smidge better if they had commas between them when you view them.

When somebody finds 10 seconds, can they add Indonesia to the countries list for hides? I've got some caches there that show as unknown country coz I can't change it. Wayyyyy down the priority list.

Top Job guys!

The gallery is not playing fair at the moment. Something to do with file permissions we suspect. The images should all appear when when its sorted.

Is there a quick way to get to the current stats? And they've gone off the front page again :(

The individual cacher stats page is brilliant - made me go and search through the logs for "FTF" and appears I have more than I remembered (about 7 - no FTF queen here!).

Hidden treasures abound!

Can those plots come down to state level. One dot on a map of australia seems.... well..... ahh...... Full country maps could be good to plot the travels of mobiles / swaggies on say.

The new icons look cool 8) .

Congratulations to the axe men

So will the next version be GCA 3.0 or NextGCA

Well done... some of the new features look good.

I'm not sure if this is the right spot for faults that have been noticed, but:

* "You can't claim a First to Find on our own cache." - The cache wasn't owned by me when I got the FTF but I've since adopted it. So this should be allowed. (Oh - and if it does stay it should say "your own cache")

I'll fix the typo.
I'll remove that restriction.
They'll go in the next release.
In the meantime tell me what the cache is and I'll do it manually.
