daily email updates [closed]

we restarted daily email updates manually yesterday. they seemed to go reasonably well. we have put them on automatic this morning. hopefully in about ten minutes they should start.

known issues:
- the funny characters are still a bit of an issue and are causing some caches to look as if they have had their descriptions updated. this will happen for a while until we sort out the exact character encoding issues we are plagued with!

Was wondering about these. I haven't got one recently. I did have problems with my email account while I was away in July (it was bouncing). Could my email address be disabled in respect of the notifications? If so can it be please be reinstated.

you don't have a state selected in your profile, so it doesn't know which update to send you
try putting your state in there and see how it goes tomorrow

Hi

Would love to but I don't seem to be able to edit my profile, in fact I can't find it.

I have looked at the forums profile and it does not appear to have state field.

I have searched GCA but not been able to find a link to my profile. I have also checked the GCA FAQ (not linked) and the Wiki without luck.

Thus I need a link please.

try clicking the profile link in the top right hand side of this screen
your state details are the first thing under the heading
"Profile Information"

hmm, looks like we'd better update the wiki!

Sorry to be a pain, but not getting a profile link in the top right hand corner, and yes I am logged in

Tried this in Opera and IE6 without luck. Getting "Logged in as Aushiker - Logout • Search:" at the top right hand side plus the tabs.

Can send a screen grab directly if you wish.

Been then done that. Still not showing the button in the top right hand corner. Just tried it again in IE and I am both logged in the forums and on GCA.

BTW I assume that the profile being referred to is on GCA and not the forum profile? I have just in case changed the forum profile location to WA (from Perth).

try clicking the forum profile link at the top right hand side of this screen

then click the drop-down box of country/state/island, and select your state:

based on your feedback we've changed the text of the state field to explicitly mention daily cache update emails

Okay, well I just went to do this but I don't get Country/State/Island box. Also my profile link is centred not on the right hand side. Will try a screen dump shortly.

aha - that's because your board style is subSilver. Remember I made you a special one. I'll switch you back to the geocaching style as that is the only one with the changed profile template. I can switch it to the geocaching style, let you add the state and than switch it back for you.

Ahh, thanks for that. I suspected that was the case and was going to give i! access to play with my profile. But if you change me, I will make the changes. Which ever is easier for you guys.
