satellite pictures on cache pages [closed]

we just saw that google opened up their mapping APIs

so we stopped packing and added experimental satellite pictures on cache pages. you can scroll and zoom them, click on the cache or nearby caches

Very cool i! - but will it be a pain for the dialup guys? After your holidays, maybe they could choose not to display?

I am unable to access any cache details screen as the page now hangs trying to load an image file.
Am on dial-up access due to my location.
I have to abort the screen using Ctrl/Alt/Delete to regain access to the web.
Could you please make the map loading feature optional??

ok, we've turned it back off
when we get back we'll put it into the beta site with some kind of option

aah, it's too good to leave alone!

we've temporarily replaced the gca maps with the google map
so you should be able to go to any cache page and click the gca map link for it to display
