we've added a log preview a-la GSAK
it allows you to see a summary of the last four logs

here's a link to demonstrate it:
http://beta.geocaching.com.au/caches/active/au

if it's FFFF that means the last four logs have all been finds
it it's DDFF that means there were finds a while ago but the most recent two logs were DNF's

we tried to do it graphically but we felt the page was two slow to load with all those little ticks and crosses on the screen. (ie the same reason we went with coloured dots to represent difficulty and terrain instead of graphical stars)

if anyone can think of a better representation for this, please let us know

as we mentioned before, the data is a snapshot from a while ago so don't worry that it's a little old. we plan to move the data in separately and even run them concurrently for a while while we are changing over. behind the scenes we are taking the opportunity to clean up the back-end too.

Looks great !

For those of us that are used to the GSAK output (I send that FFFF data to the GPS as a note), could the D be an N for consistency?

Looking abs. awesome sofar guys!

Hi

Like the new look of the site. I am viewing it with Opera 8.0 and it is working sweet.

Thanks
Andrew

done!

what are the other abbreviations that we should use? eg
A=Attended?
W=Will Attend?

what is a note if a DNF is an N?

In GSAK, the last four aren't the last four LOGS but the last 4 RESULTS.

So notes don't show as a 'statistic'. When looking at a summary, what I want (and I assume others) is a summary of the finds, notes and such don't really matter so much that I need an indicator.

Just used to GSAK I suppose.

Thanks!

Agreed, finds, DNFs and archival notes are the ones of interest.

Think GSAK uses an X for not available/archived.

we have been madly developing the beta site on the US server so it can take over from the australian server

we would appreciate your help beta-testing

what should be working
- logging on, off
- browsing caches
- listing new caches
- logging caches
- recommending, planning, watching caches

what isn't working
- the database is old data
- swaggies

the caches, logs, recommendations, watches, and plans are temporary tables, so feel free to create new logs, caches, etc.

if this is reasonably robust we could import the current data and set this up as the main site

thanks for your help!

clicking the "Links" tab (this link http://beta.geocaching.com.au/links)

doesn't work.

The "Geocachers websites" link inside it, does work.
