thanks for your feedback

what a pity all the browsers work differently. argh!

summary so far:
firefox: sounds as if it's okay, except the extra width of the help dropdown
internet explorer: needs some trimming of the right hand side, plus font size.
netscape 7.1: argh! if you see a site which has decent working menus that work in netscape, firefox and ie, please let us know. does it work for netscape 7.2 on the pc?
netscape 7.2 on mac: yay!
ie 5.2 on mac: argh! do you know of a site where menus on ie 5.2 do work?
safari on mac: yay! that's bundled with all macs, isn't it?
deer park: yay!

remember me: we've set the default to forgetting you
not taking the logon into the forum: chwiliwr, we tried to reproduce this behaviour but couldn't. can you please test it under a few circumstances, eg remember on, off, invalid passwords, etc? thanks

we have windows ie6 so we'll do some more work on that to get the style sheet right at least for that.

we've hooked in the cache, cacher and cache list pages. they aren't formatted correctly but they test that all the back-end is connected.

the cache list page is new and inspired by leek's comment (here) that it would be good to be able to sort caches within lists, etc. so the clicking on the title will enable you do to that. we'd like to do gpx downloads of arbitrary lists of gca caches too, so that's what the download link is for

Any further attempts to visit the beta site before the forum results in the forum not recognising me.

aha, thanks sniper. we've realised what went wrong: we are not creating a forum session cookie. (the forums use two cookies - a login cookie which stores your autologin and a session cookie that stores that you have an active session.) we'll need to fix that.

in the meantime, we've added state and country navigation to http://beta.geocaching.com.au/caches/

does this seem intuitive enough and quick enough for regular use?

Getting in on this one late, hadn't checked new posts today!
<p>
Backing up Mix's comments re Safari on Mac (but I'm using version 2.0) - works fine, renders well but I get a scroll bar at the bottom of the page, but this seems common through a lot of the browsers.

Seems good to me, I like the format.

Only 'issue' is on the cache pages, the Date hidden doesnt seem to align properly with the Date Text up the top..... no biggy...

FYI:
Firefox1.0.4/Linux/1280x1024

Looking good!!!

mix, we had a look at that website and it doesn't seem to format nicely in firefox. we'll keep our eye out for a site that does it all. it could be impossible for all we know!

craigrat, yes we haven't finished the cache pages yet - half of the stuff on that page should go onto the sidebar

we're thinking of making the region selector thing generic
we've added it to the geocachers website links page and it seems to be relatively easy to navigate around
http://beta.geocaching.com.au/links/cachers/
does it make intuitive sense to you guys?

Region selector does work very well. Is the setting going to be saved? ie Will it stay on NSW if that was the last selection or would I have to click Australia>NSW each time I visited if that's all I wanted to view?

The My cache page currently only displays a few of my caches.

Fantastic work i!. Looks great! 8)

yes, the region selector will be sticky and will default to the last region you selected
the data is a snapshot from a while ago so that will be fixed up later

the region selector should now be sticky

ie if you select a state on one page, you should be able to jump to another page and see the same region displayed

we've also added colours to on the cache listing page to denote recommended caches, etc

Nah - No good. This site is cactus.

Searched the site for 20 minutes. Didn't even find a single reference to a teapot let alone animage of one. This issue will need to be addressed immeadiately else people view you as being antisocial and not with the times.

Everything else works fine through the latest Firefox (as you know) but it wont matter. No incentive to visit without a pot of tea to greet them.

we've added the time since the last find to the cache listings
see http://beta.geocaching.com.au/caches/latest/au/qld

we did it in weeks because we thought that was a reasonable unit of time

other options were to have the units change throughout the list, eg 1 day, then 2 weeks, then 3 months, etc, but we found that hard to scan quickly

we resisted the urge to replace the blank ones with "Virgin!"

Looks good. Sorting seems to be broken, doesn't sort and jumps up to AU level instead of sorting QLD (for example).
