May-ntenacne Month 2018

Post by Geocaching Australia » 16 April 18 7:22 am

With the month of May almost upon us, it's the perfect time to participate in a bit of cache May-ntenance once again.

If you know of a cache in your area that may be MIA, why not head on out and check it out, as it might require a Needs Maintenance, or even a Needs Archiving log.
If for some reason the cache reappears after your NA, no drama's, here on Geocaching Australia there is a very simple way to re-activate the cache.....the CO just needs to log an 'Unarchive' log, and all is good again.

For the month of May take a few minutes from a day or two and check those geocaches around you. Not just your own, but other geocaches around that you may have found and can check with ease.

If the cache is there and fine, confirm it by writing a Noted log.
If the cache is there and in need of some TLC, write a Needs Maintenance log.
If the cache is not there, write a Needs Archiving log.

Thanks for helping to keep the Geocaching Australia database up to date.

It's time for a little tidy up at Geocaching Australia. We're calling it May-ntenance Month. What we're asking our community to do is to go and check on a local cache or two to make sure they're still happily tucked away, just as the CO intended.
If you discover that the cache requires some maintenance, then now is the time to post that Needs Maintenance (NM) log. Maybe if you, and others before you, can't find the cache at all, then it could be time for a Needs Archiving (NA) log. If for some reason the cache reappears after the NA log, no drama! At Geocaching Australia the cache owner (CO) can simply re-activate the cache by putting through an 'Unarchive' log and all is good again. Cache owners are awesome - they're the ones who keep our game ticking over and we're grateful for all they do. But COs, when was the last time you did some routine maintenance on your hides?

It's May-ntenance Month at Geocaching Australia and we'd like COs to make sure that all your caches are still in good order.

Take a moment to review recent logs for NM reports or a string of DNFs that seem out of character for that hide, and or course go and visit your cache to check that it's still secure and has plenty of spaces in the logbook for new finders to sign.

Have you had a chance to go out and check on your local Geocaching Australia caches during May-ntenance Month? In order to keep the database listings as up-to-date as possible we need feedback and input from the community.

A little bit of a tidy up now will make for a better quality experience when you REALLY need it, say for when the next game starts perhaps? :-"

Geocaching Australia LOVES moveables! They're a unique cache type here at Geocaching Australia but sometimes their movements can be a little erratic.

During May-ntenance Month we're asking the community to double check the boot of your car, the boxes in your garage, and maybe down the back of the couch for stray moveables that may still be in your possession, but you haven't rehidden yet. Or maybe there's a moveable that was hidden somewhere near you but has been stuck in the same spot for way too long - why not help it along in its travels during May-ntenance Month.

I moved a heap on the weekend. Just been busy and unwell so haven't "moved" them yet. Sorry.
