People keep on bringing this up, they expect some kind of security when entering personal details.

Even worse, from July 2018 Chrome will mark non-HTTPS sites as "Not secure".

Let's Encrypt provides free SSL certificates and has a zero-administration method to update them.

There is really no reason any more to not provide a secure connection on places where people expect them, specially not when you are in the donations season.

You speak like you know what's happening on the server.

There's reasons, and those reasons are being looked at. It's not a zero config situation for us as we've got other things using certificates hanging off 443, subdomains and 3rd party software at the moment.

Does it need to happen, yes. Will it happen, yes. Is this the right thread, no.

Thanks to everyone who donated or better yet, made a purchase through the shop in the last week. We can now cover off this years hosting bill and have something in the bank to order different products for the shop. We hope that we see you again in the shop sooner or later to help carry the site through future years.
