Deleting logs on GCA

Post by tronador » 29 November 17 10:31 pm

I can't find a delete button? Is there are reason we can't delete logs on GCA caches? Also how can I delete a listing that was made in error? No info on the page but its annoying having it there and not being able to delete.

Click on Edit for your log, then delete is an option above the log.

No I want to delete someone elses log. The listing was a mistake so I had to archive it as you can't delete it once its been saved. It was never published but someone seems to troll through archived caches even though this has no info or location, nothing and he logged it. I want to remove the log... its meaningless.

You use a retract log to unpublished it. I've done that and deleted the find.

What exactly does that mean? How do I retract the log?

If you use a retracted log, then your cache is no longer published. It is invisible. It goes back into DRAFT.

At the end of the day, short answer is that it is an admin action to delete a log that isn't your own.

We have made this decision years ago when things were a bit more volatile here and during a few games it got a bit heated.. It stops tit-for-tat deletions which WOULD have happened in one game in particular......

I've only been asked to remove logs a handful of times in the past decade, which is nice.
