Dear Faeries,
Just a minor problem of 2 duplicate logs on GCA. They are 2 GC caches....have checked both sites and their is only 1 log on each of the GC caches.
The 2 duplicate logs are
Columnar Basalt
Reconciliation Revisited
Both logged on 11 April 2017

If one of the log finds for each cache could be deleted...that would be awesome...and most appreciated.
What are the GC codes?

Sorry for leaving those out.
Cheers and thanks....Sirius

Wasn't sure which logs to delete, so I hope I have chosen wisely.

You chose well....many thanks for that...very much appreciated.
I keep a written record of my finds...so they now match up spot on with GCA.
Cheers and thanks...sirius.

I was doing my weekly import of NSW logs to help keep things up to date and got this error message:

Unknown cache type, set to Traditional: GC8HJC6 'Lost and Found Event Caches'. Please advise a site administrator.

It was a Community Celebration event, so maybe it is a cache type we don't recognise?

The type is:
<type>Geocache|Event Cache</type>
<groundspeak:type>Event Cache</groundspeak:type>

The GPX file is a standard event type which imports fine on my machine.
Can you please send me the GPX file you used as we may have a difference in the GPX versions which describe the geocache type differently.

In the meantime I have uploaded the v1.0 GPX file that I downloaded this morning and it has updated the type to Event.

Interesting, if I look at my GPX file I uploaded (generated from GSAK as version 1.0) for that cache it shows me

<type>Geocache|Lost and Found Event Caches</type>
<groundspeak:type>Lost and Found Event Caches</groundspeak:type>

The first few lines showing the version are

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<gpx xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
version="1.0" creator="GSAK"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/0 http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/0/gpx.xsd http://www.groundspeak.com/cache/1/0/1 http://www.groundspeak.com/cache/1/0/1/cache.xsd"
xmlns="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/0">

I have shared you the file via dropbox as it is 20MB with our new upload limits so I doubt it would email.

Cheers

Richard

Thanks.

There's the problem. 1.0.1 of the GPX schema has a type that 1.0 does not have.

They have never announced it as a new type and strictly they should have made 1.0.2 the version that included a new non-enumerated list value. But that's why we drop it in as "traditional" if we can't translate it, so the imported doesn't b0rk itself.

I'll look at incorporating the new geocache type soon.

Thanks - I thought I was exporting 1.0 but will check next time to make sure I haven't accidentally ticked the wrong box. Things usually work :(

Thanks for that. It seems that the type has changed from "Lost and Found Event Cache" to "Lost and Found Event Caches". So we now handle both with and without a trailing s.

This morning's Daily Email includes a large number of new caches in the Mildura area. Part way through the list the hyperlinks to GCA and "other site" for all remaining caches in the email have ceased being hyperlinks and have reverted to simple text. (Not that I really care about checking out a few hundred caches out in the desert :-" )

Our email has no hyperlinks. They are simply text which your email handler changes into hyperlinks when it makes the decision to. I'm guessing that your email handler has decided "too many links" or something, so stopped converting them. There's no fix we can apply at our side other than to make our email HTML vs. plaintext. We will be unlikely to do that as we need to write the content of the email two times, once for the HTML and once for plaintext if an email handler can't handle HTML. That doubles the size of the emails that go out and really, they are for basic information rather than sales, so we keep things nice and simple to cater for everyone as much as possible.

Thanks. I suspected as much and glad it's confirmed. Looks like a limitation of my very old version of Outlook.

Re: Adding Private or Public Tags Problem

Post by Tuena » 08 September 20 10:56 am

Attempting to add a private tag to https://geocaching.com.au/my/tags/add/cache/ga18005/ but that results in a blank white screen. Tried another Locationless & a moveable with same result. It was working yesterday.

Actually it's a problem across the board it appears. Unable to log a note, find etc as presented with the white screen eg. https://geocaching.com.au/my/log/new/tp13114

Like Tuena we are having problems when trying to log a find. When the log this cache option it selected we just get a blank screen. We have only tried to log locationless caches. It was working OK before 8:00am this morning.
