I hope more than a few people are super excited about this. Thanks to you and Sol de Lune for getting this going this year. It was nearly a non-event, but your support of the game was most excellent and it looks like the game is ready to go on 1/8/16. With a mix of Geocaching Australia and GC challenges the p[laying field should hopefully suit everyone who wants to play.

I'm looking forward to competing this time around and hoping I can manage to wangle my way into a lower position of excellence.

I hope that the challenges are going to be released before the 1st of August as I have no idea how well in shape I am :-)

\:D/ GeoSportz is an olympic themed game where points are awarded for finding sport theme caches or challenges. Eg, to claim the swimming point you need to find a cache that involves a swim... always fun in winter! However the requirements may change this year compared to the last time it ran.

It is really fun and not as easy as who finds the most as you can't exceed the maximum so some thinking is involved. I guess the requirements wont be published until the game begins to stop too much pre-planning (or releasing of new caches that meet the reqs in anticipation)

Regrettably, correct. They will be released on 31/7/16 which is one day ahead of the game, but no earlier for those who are a little too enthusiastic about helping out mates.

I was just reading the GeosportZ 2016 page and am wondering (probably obvious to those who have done this before) if you have to include all your finds within the game period as GeosportZ claims or can you find whatever and pick and choose from these as to which ones to claim in GeosportZ? I understand that finding eligible caches may be hard but say I'm traveling and find a heap eligible for a single challenge.

There will be a number of challenges or requirements to meet. You will need to find caches that meet the requirement to claim. This is not just a case of throw all your finds in and see what sticks. This is a game of tactics and strategy to decide whether to claim that 1/1 now or claim that 3/4 later :-)

You can find as many caches as you want during the period, but then you claim the one you want against a particular challenge. If a cache doesn't meet any of the challenges then that's find, it is just a smiley on your stats like normal and irrelevant to the game.

There is also a 7 day log requirement of the game. i.e. You must log your claim within 7 days of your find. You can't hold them until the end and choose the best ones, you must make tactical decisions as you proceed.

Awesome! Challenges are up! And they look good and even achievable for isolated people (thank you). I have a few questions though:

12 - Golf - FTF - does this mean the hidden before August rule does not apply to this one?

19 - Modern Pentathalon - do you have to do all waypoints within the game period, say if you have half the multi done before August but have not completed it yet?

26&41 - 1500m - this mentions both the cache being 1500m walk away, and 1500m walk in total. Is the walk in total acceptable, as in the cache being 750m away equaling a 1500m round trip?
