Re: GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo
The game finished at the end of January.
Either way, they become regular movable geocaches and people move them around for fun.

You COULD, but finding GCA cachers in other countries might be a struggle.
I'd recommend you don't

Re: GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo
From a previous race I found a frog that had been left in NZ, it had been there about 16 months from memory. So unless you know someone o/s is going to be able to pick it up it's probably not advisable. Of course if you are taking to a mega overseas and know you can let another Aussie cacher know it is there or hand it over then that would probably work.CraigRat wrote:You COULD, but finding GCA cachers in other countries might be a struggle.

I've been watching your gnome with a view to moving him when we're passing through next.Chasburgs wrote:Ok reread the rules - it's been 14 days and mine hasn't even moved yet. Am I allowed to move it once into a more high traffic area? Where it is is high traffic but obviously not high GCA traffic
If he still hasn't moved in the next couple of days, I'll be passing through on Sunday.
I'm not sure what would be considered a high traffic area for me to move him to, especially as I don't get to the metro area, but I can bring him back to our neck of the woods. Hopefully someone passing by on their way into or out of the state will pick him up.

Re: GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo
Sounds like a good rule change. Am happy that my sole GeGnome for this year has now made it to the ACT!caughtatwork wrote:Sure, sounds like a good compromise. New rules added. If the GeGnome has not moved within 7 days and you were not the last geocacher to find or move it then the "rule of two other finds / moves" does not apply and you are free to move the GeGnome again. If the GeGnome has not moved within 14 days, even if you were the last geocacher to find or move it then you are free to move the GeGnome again. Let's keep those GeGnomes moving.

Re: GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo
Good to see Yurt gnoming this year. As for myself, I've largely had to confine myself to the Blue Mountains area. There are several of us transporting gnomes around here, but the champion is rogerw3, who's made multiple trips to the Parramatta area, all in the service of the travelling GeGnomes! Sorry I haven't been communicating much lately here at the Forum.Yurt wrote:Richary I see how your poor gnome has been sitting at Denistone since day one! I must try and get down there. I've moved a few locally but am struggling this season with work so I've been guilty of transporting gnomes around in the car for days without placing them. Thankfully they're currently all off my hands.
I haven't even managed an entry this year, having entered all the previous races since they were just plain old Sistemas.

Re: GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo
This is going to sound strange coming from a Queenslander but I think there is a problem with a gnome hiding at Melbourne uni.
I took a Queensland gnome to an event last weekend. At that event a 'new' gnome Graeme (GA8019) was logged as found and the finder added the co-ordinates of the event to the found log which means that Graeme moved 1300 odd kms. The thing is, I am an enthusiastic moveables hunter and the I haven't had the opportunity to find a gnome yet this year but at the event the only gnome I saw or heard about was my own, Flappy. Which makes me wonder if there is a mix up. There was only one event log online for Graeme and none for Flappy (GA7998 if you want to check).
I've contacted both the gnome owner and the cacher who logged Graeme at the event, but haven't heard anything back. So I guess what I am saying is if you are heading out to Melbourne Uni to find Gnomeo (GA7904) its possible Graeme is still in position at his last moved co-ordinates. Just suggesting thats all.
With a lack of gnomes to find in my own area I am having to resort to being a gnome PI. Although if Graeme has actually made it to the Gold Coast, I'll be hopping in my (borrowed from my employer - Robin Masters) red Ferrari GTS and will be out there looking for him.

Re: GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo
Problem fixed: The finder got back to me realising that she hadn't logged the correct gnome so has deleted her log. Therefor Graeme is back in his original location.
Damn.... I missed out on a gnome hunt!

Re: GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo
I've noticed a few gnomes that haven't had their published date as 1 December. One with 30 November, and one with 8 December. Remember peoples, the published date needs to be 1 December for them to be part of the competition, so go back and edit the listing if it is wrong
