Re: GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo
Not everyone can go out caching every day. Some of us work, sorry but that takes priority over moving on a gnome in our possession.dezzabills wrote:What is peeving me off at the moment with the gnome race is people picking up my gnome and hanging onto it for 24hrs and longer. Currently my gnome has been held for 48hrs and as yet has not been placed out.
And now it is nearing the end of the day guess it won't go out till tomorrow making it 60hrs that it has not been in the field and not in the race. There should be another condition that they not be held for so long.
it seems that these people are doing this to prevent me from getting distances and logs scored so there gnome gets more logs scored.
Seems like some people are cheating the rules for their own gain.
When playing this game you'll need patience.

Re: GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo
I wasn't thinking about GA cacher as I don't use it, just the maps on the website. I realise it will only be as up to date as when you checked it and whether the last find and grab has been logged or not, I was lucky on the weekend that the ones I targetted (apart from one) were still there.Geocaching Australia wrote:GA Cacher doesn't handle this so there is no immediate solution available to us, collectively.Richary wrote:Found this link to see where the gnomes are currently located.

I know that a number of times it has been asked if there was a way of creating found and taken logs, and the answer has always been it is not compatible with the GPX format.
But thinking about it, could we add found and taken as a log type that would show up as a different colour on the GCA map, but still just export as Found for gpx? Then I can look at the map and know which are taken, and which might still be there without having to check each moveable for the last log to see if it was taken or not?
It's no biggie, just an idea.

Re: GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo
Moves of 0km distance are not included in the move count as it hasn't moved. We have thought of this scenario and it doesn't count. So please use this method as it does indicate what's happened and is clear that the cache is in place ready to be found.gmj3191 wrote:Well since there are prizes for the numbers of moves, I think this is not in the spirit of the game as you're faking a move. A group of ten people could come along and do that and suddenly that Gnome has an unreachable lead, which would inspire others to do the same, wrecking the game. Why not just log your FIND and then a NOTED to say it's still in place. No issues with that, that I can think of.rogerw3 wrote:
What I do when leaving a moveable in place, first I do my found log and then a moved log, I just move it to the same spot with the same hint. I have not had any complaints when doing that so perhaps it works!

It should be fixed now.rogerw3 wrote:caughtatwork wrote:Errr, if you're getting a lot of superfluous notifications, sorry. There's a bug in allocating dZone points for a future publication so they were updated manually. Apologies for spamming everyone with new published logs.
Gnathan seem to have fallen thru the cracks! http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga7767
Or more likely I have got myself mixed up!

Re: GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo
I've decided to join in even though there is a good chance my GeGnome won't be found while the game is running. I just want to double check, am I meant to put its publishing date as 1st Dec even though it is a late starter?caughtatwork wrote:Hidden date of 1/12/2015 and published date of 1/12/2015 and public tag of gegnome2 and any time up the end of the game you're good to go.

Re: GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo
Is it possible to get the most distinct number of gegnome2 gnomes by cacher? I am interested in offering a prize for the most unique gegnome2 finds for a West Aussie cacher. Just trying some ideas to keep them going through to the end of Jan.

Are these your entries, or are you collecting them from the game?fluffyfish wrote:That wasn't even quite all of them.....
I hope they're not being deprived of moves by being collected.

Re: GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo
They were all moved to an event and then moved out by different cachers. So in fact probably a move or two extra! We were still abiding by the 48 hour.gmj3191 wrote:Are these your entries, or are you collecting them from the game?fluffyfish wrote:That wasn't even quite all of them.....

Oooh, the two non-gnomes in that pic are my geokiddies (cutepossum & trainkid). They're famous ..... er.
Must get them to log their finds.
