So no sign up or special tracking on caching games? Just the leaderboard here on GCA? That's nice and easy ;)

Exactly. Nothing special to do, just enjoy the game. Remember all your points for the game period count, so start collecting them now.

Hi. I just found my first challenge geocache and received a bunch of points for challenges met. However, points for #13 "Love the Unloved" were not allocated. You can check out my last log, "Class Act" to see it that should have been. If you could let me know if I am doing something wrong that would be awesome. Thanks.

You did indeed get a bunch of points. Very nicely done.

This is the Loved the Unloved challenge:
The unloved eocaches are those which have not been logged in at least 6 months. Log a valid find against 6 months unloved to claim your prize.

You need to log your find against this cache which is called 6 months unloved.
http://geocaching.com.au/cache/GA2689

It's that log which validates your challenge and awards the points.

I can see that the link in the description is not clear, so I'll make it much clearer to avoid confusion. Thanks for the feedback.

Don't forget your daily dZone points count. So do any trophies you collect during the game (although they're really more medallions). The more things you get points on, the higher your points, the greater chance of, er, <insert something valid here>.

Sorry I have more questions as this is all new to me...

I thought I saw that I was awarded #1 Conqueror and #2 Battle Master for taking control of a Dragon Zone region and cache, but they seem to have disappeared again. Is that because someone has somehow allocated more points than me to both the cache and the zone since my log this afternoon?
Also, how does one move up the rank? I noticed I went up in rank today from Dragon Fodder to Peasant.

Sorry to be a pain and thank you for your help with my last question.

You're not a pain. Trying to track when you control a cache is a little tricky.

You logged your find and allocated additional points. When your log was edited you didn't "take control" of the cache or zone because the additional points meant you already had control of the cache and zone.

I've made a change to address 99% of the issue. i.e. If you edit your find and THAT find would have taken control of the cache or zone, it allocates you the points. The problem will still exist if you log a find, allocated points, then edit your log.

As I said it's tricky trying to reconstruct the past, but in your case your missing challenges are back. Thanks for being patient.

Well this worked out nicely! Just back from a lovely holiday where I hid a new cache to find I've already clocked up some points in a new game!

Where can I see what caches are counted in which challenge and how many points I got for them?
And maybe more importantly, where can I see where other players got their points? (So I can get as many as Sol de lune!!!)

Thanks for giving me a reason for getting out of a warm bed in a cold, cold winter. Brrrrr

You can find your points (mixed in) here for challenges.
http://geocaching.com.au/my/dragonzone/points/other/
Your normal points also contribute:
http://geocaching.com.au/my/dragonzone/points/cache/

I have purposely not allowed anyone else to see your individual points. Only the grand totals. I can't remember why now. Probably some level of paranoia or none-of-your-business thing. I don't know.

I you want to stalk a player, view their hides and finds.
http://geocaching.com.au/cacher/Sol+de+lune/hides is a huge chunk of change right there.
http://geocaching.com.au/cacher/Sol+de+ ... swaypoints also has a few points.

The basic idea. Go find, go hide, visit daily (to get that half a point), update your trophies, provide a tip / hint to me, collect karma on your own cache hides, etc. Lots of ways of gathering points.

Not so much under the radar, I have been keeping an eye on you! And remember there are plenty of GCA caches along the mountains on your way to the DAWSP http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga7194 they are there to be found, go for it.
