GCA web site maps

Post by sweet - sour » 23 November 13 7:11 pm

The new maps are great, but do not have the Co-ords ithe lower right hand side or a distance scale on the lower left.
Are they available, if so, what do I do?

They are temporarily unavailable due to changes in the Google maps API.

Please bare with us while we fix up any remaining maps issues,

Thankyou CraigRat,
I do use that feature a lot when hiding new caches.

Thanks, CraigRat. That will be great. I really do value being able to check coordinates on the GCA maps.

Hi CraigRat, Checking the site this morning, there are no maps on Google Maps, but the lat & long logo is up in the bottom right hand corner.

This was fixed last night.

What browser and version are you using. The maps are working for me in IE, FF and Chrome.
Also, how are you getting to the maps? i.e. Via a query, cache, all caches, etc.

Hi CraigRat, It doesn't matter whether I log in or not. Using Windows XP. Type in Gympie into search, comes up with a list of caches in Gympie, click on anyone, Google Maps - blank page; Gmap(natural) get a street map with only one cache showing. Multi maps, street map and no caches. I have no idea what the series of letters you asked about, are. Keith

Please let me know what browser you are using.

Are you using Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome or something else.
I also need to know what version of the browser you are using.
Tell me what browser first and then I can tell you how to find the version.

I'm guessing you are using Internet Explorer version 7 which is getting a little bit long in the tooth and doesn't handle some code syntax. If you can confirm my theory about your browser, I'll look into it and see if I can determine a fix.

Hi caughtatwork,
Google is working, but have lost the roving co-ords. I will use multimap in future, as it gives co-ords when you right click the mouse, but I don't have any caches on it. Can you do anything about that?
I use the co-ords off the maps for filling in the new cache, when hiden I take the actual co-ords, then activate the cache. This works well as most of my hides now are many Km from home, saves a double trip.
I have tried to use Google Earth, but it slowed the PC down to such a point that it was useless, Deleted it.
Thanks for your help
Keith

I don't have IE7, I can only use an emulator. The emulator works to show the co-ords in the bottom right, so unfortunately I can't debug it as it works. At some point I would recommend you upgrade IE7 to IE8. You should be able to do that under WindowsXP. That might solve the problem of a browser that is coming to end of life.

Hi caughtatwork, I presume IT7 & IT8 are the new microsoft windows, remember I'm an old fart, not really OFA with all the computor speak.
Thanks again
