365 days Uptime
Just a little humble brag from us:
We have recently passed 365 days of continuous uptime, a benchmark we are quite proud of.
Apart from the odd slowdown every now and then, the uptime for the website itself site would be in the 99.999% range, a performance metric that people pay good money to have, and you get this for FREE*
During this time we have pushed many, many GCA updates, server patches and upgrades without causing too much grief to anyone but ourselves.
We will continue to try and bring you the most feature rich caching website in the world** at this level for as long as humanly possible!
*Thanks to all that have donated in the past.
** fact, not hyperbole.

Re: 365 days Uptime
The question has to be asked... What went wrong on 21/3/2011?
But well done anyway!
If only gc.com could go for even 30 days...

Nothing went wrong. It was planned downtime to move parts of the database from ISAM to InnoDB to stop table locking.

Re: 365 days Uptime
Congratulations guys, this has to be the best Geocaching site anywhere, in fact many professional websites do not come close to what you are able to achieve. As a heavy user of this site I am very grateful for all your hard work.

Predicts you're not using Windows - Linux?

A memorable few hours, especially the logs table showing 0 rows for a few heart stopping minutes.caughtatwork wrote:Nothing went wrong. It was planned downtime to move parts of the database from ISAM to InnoDB to stop table locking.

Re: 365 days Uptime
The forum does not auto correct for DST.quiet1_au wrote:But is your server clock an hour behind?...
You need to set it manually as not all places go to DST equally.
Control Panel
Board Preferences
Set DST at the bottom.
You can see the server time and your local time at the bottom of every GCA page.

Mine says:
Server Time: 21st March 2012 9:21 PM | Local Time: 21st March 2012 9:21 PM
