3 leapfrog caches almost completed. Caches are done. Draft pages are done. Just need some GCA log sheets and somewhere to hide them. Given I know more this year, I won't be worried about putting a leapfrog cache in Wollongong. I think Wil or Tuena or a dark coloured rabbit will swing by at some point :-" .

Those solar powered frogs I purchased from Mitre 10 work well. Power up during the day & the LED torch burns for a few hours (still shining albeit not brightly at 2343). They have a light meter or similar. The difficulty would be hiding them somewhere secure from muggles & then hoping cachers would do the same. They'd be hidden 10 or more metres from the co-ords like many caches I've looked for.

No plaster of paris filled frogs this year - my gnome weighed a tonne. Might hide a frog in Unanderra!

Well i have Two small ones ready to go.
One has a solar powered light the other one also had a light as well be he was a little cracked up so the light made way for a 35mm film canister & lots of silicone.

Well I'll be looking for a few frogs to come with me to WA.....

As the saying goes (?), you can always hide your light under a bush.

I was out searching for my own lil froggy friends (got four so far - yay!!!) when I decided we should have gone with gnomes... After last years hard slog to find some quickly (and drawing blanks!!!) I cannot beleive how many perfect little flippin' gnomes I have seen so far.... Arrrrrghhhhh :gnome

Okay, I feel better now, sorry just had to let that out. Seriously, so many perfect little fellas just waiting to have a cache shoved up their.... whatevers  Maybe we started a trend after last year?

Oh, that's right, I actually have 5 froggys since I grabbed one last year on my gnome frenzy before realising that a frog ain't exactly a gnome!! So, my first moving frog cache is actually a rejected gnome cache!!!

My daughter Emilia (9yo) and I spent three hours going from one shop to the next - KMart, Reject shop etc. And we found gnomes - gnomes with clocks, gnomes with thermometers, holdings signs and solar cells etc.

Frogs on the other hand have been rare. Quite rare.

The few we found have tiny holes in their bases.
I've never had cause to drill out ceramic animals... :stabby
Is drilling this par for the course or should I just keep on looking?

Mine have small holes too :-( and I was thinking of drilling them out.

Instead, I'm going to attach one of these around their neck with a cable tie.

No danger of breaking the froggie that way.

Any suggestion on where to buy? I got an idea for one that I can build in dads workshop but I not going to be there until the middle of november... But I want to have one ready to go before then. Is bunnings a good start? :-k

Not in my experience.
Bronnie_1990 said she found some in Mitre 10...
I eventually settled for some online.

I found some at one Bunnings store and none at another. So go figure.
I also saw some at BigW.

Oh i can understand this. I swear last year when we had gnomes, there wasnt that many gnomes. :gnome :stabby

I found a fair few (ok, i lied, i mean a good two isles!!!!) frogs at magnet mart, so try some of the garden shops (ok, i tried a shop called "the garden" and they didnt have frogs OR gnomes!), that arent bunnings.
That being said, i saw my local bunninngs had a ticket advertising frogs, but were sold out (they do that.. :stabby ), :stabby tried the other 2 bunnings, and they didnt have any at all!

I'm petrified of drilling a hole in mine. I'm thinking i'll try on a cheapo one from the reject shop, see if that works, then go from there. :S

Random thought: Is Freddo going to be a GCA cache for the MCR?
