Total finds > Unique Caches found

Post by p-boro » 14 December 10 11:39 pm

My find stats say
Total Finds
1,336 (0.93 per day or 6.55 per week)
Total Unique Caches Found
1,334

Difference of 2 caches, no big deal, certainly not a problem. Just wondering. I understand the total unique caches found (1333 GC + 1 GCA), but the extra 2 in the total finds.....?
Other people must have experienced this before me; in the forum I found a thread about deleting duplicated logs. But it did not tell me how to indentify my two doubles. And then, how and where do I delete them? I would hate to cause more damage to the numbers.
So would be grateful if somebody could point out where to find a detailed instruction.

Thanks a lot

p-boro (in tidying-up mood)

Option 1 - you found a cache more than once. It could have been a moveable or a virtual. Or you accidentally logged the same one twice at some point.

2. Go to your cacher page http://geocaching.com.au/cacher/p-boro
Look at statistics and the bottom option is Duplicates. That will show you all the caches you have logged (and maybe noted) more than once.

That shows the 2 caches you have logged more than once

Hope that helps :D

Wow Richary,

that was fast! Thanks a lot for your answer. :D

I hadn't noticed the Duplicates button yet. I think I remember that in both caches I deleted the original log and posted a new one, rather than editing the date or text or whatever it was. And I also remember from the forum that these deletion at GC level don't carry over to GCA.
So what do I do now? How do I delete a log that I've already deleted? Sorry if this is obvious...
Thanks, p-boro

View the listing in GCA and then delete the duplicate log here on GCA :)

Note : You can get to your duplicate logs by going to My->Account and scrolling down to the 'Logs' section.

Yes once the faeries have imported the log it stays here, and can't notice you have deleted the previous one. Once you add a new log it has a different ID number so appears different to the gnomes working behind the scenes on the GCA server.

If you create a log on GC, and modify it before the faeries get to it then it will be OK. If it's imported first I believe it won't update with the new information.

Took me a few minutes to find the duplicate button again as well ](*,)

Done! Thanks everybody. All nice and tidy now :D
Looks like there is a lot more to discover on the GCA site for me. I will play with the graphs now...

Cheers, p-boro
