Picture Upload

Post by Coffee and Cache » 15 May 10 11:50 pm

When I upload a picture to a GCA (cache) gallery, it is being re-sized to 150 pixels wide. Even if I pre-scale it to about 400 pixels wide, it's still being massively resized on the upload. There appears to be many images larger than this hosted by the gallery. Is this the limit or am I doing something wrong?

It constricts by width OR height whichever is greater (and maintains aspect ratio) What height is the image you are uploading?

(If it's a tall and think image you could get some nasty results)

The last one I tried was 400 w x 300 h. Actually, it's being put in a "thumbs" subdirectory. Is that significant?

That is only the thumbnail of the image, not the full image

I'll have a quick look and we'll have you on the right track

Go here: http://geocaching.com.au/gallery/cacher ... and+Cache/
Click on the image you want to use, and it'll open up full scale, click on 'Details' and it will take you to a page that gives you the HTML you need to use it in your cache listing or forum post or whatnot.

Image restrictions are something like 800 x 800 therabouts from memory.

Thanks CraigRat - Actually, I see what I'm doing. I'm extracting the URL by looking at the thumbnail rather than displaying the image and then looking at the properties.

Ie I'm getting .....gaXXX/thumbs/tn_xxx.jpg, instead of ./gaXXX/abc.jpg

Sorry to trouble you.
