Here's another one for you to look at. My "Bricker Brac" cache is located in Moorabbin, but it's listed as Kooyong! I know that GC.com's Post Code data is not all that accurate, but Kooyong is about 11km (and $100,000 p.a. :wink:) from Moorabbin.
<p>
BTW, I'd like to add my voice to the accolades. This facility is great! I can't wait to get back to Oz to have a go at knocking Rabbitto off the top of the list. :twisted:
<p>
Cheers,

can you please give us some examples of incorrect locations so we can see what's going on.
<P>
If you're using radius rather than polygons to define locations then it makes sense that some of these seem way out. If you don't have the polygon regions it would be pretty impossible to get the localities correct. If you would like some examples:<P>
11.265 Kilometre View (listed as Lauderdale, should be 7 Mile Beach)<BR>
Snuva's Haunt (listed as Geilston Bay, should be New Town)<BR>
Wellington's Cascade (listed as Tolmans Hill, should be Cascades or South Hobart)<BR>
Wild Party Animals #1 (listed as Battery Point, should be West Hobart)<BR>Wild Party Animals #2 (listed as New Town, should be Mt Stuart)<P>This list isn't a whinge, just requested examples. I think the new stats page looks terrific and it's exciting to see that it is live info. All CraigRats finds for the weekend are there pushing them to the top of the active Tassie cachers! Having the locations listed is verging on cheating, so I wouldn't be upset if they stayed like they are and we read them with suspicion.

essentially this comes down to a leaderboad - would it be useful to rank the players so people can gloat that they are number #23 or something?

C'mon, EVERYONE knows geoaching is all about being the #1 finder and those who say it isn't are low achievers who aren't trying hard enough!

Could there be a totals stats page broken by state like...

Total Caches Found.
Total New caches placed

?

done. we've filtered out locationless, virtual and webcam caches
<p>
I agree with removing locationless caches to eliminate all the logs by non-Aussie cachers, but why remove virtuals and webcams as well?
<p>
I can understand people not liking locationless caches--GC.com even has a moratorium on new ones. However, surely virtuals and webcams are valid, "do-in-Australia" caches and should be in the stats.
<p>
How about the stats include all caches that you must be in Australia to do, and include the check box for locationless ones only (which is what embi sugested)?
<p>
One last request: is it possible to produce a leader board of cache finders in each state? maccamob would be on top for Victoria, Varuna for WA, but it would be interesting to know the leaders elsewhere, and to know who are, say, the top ten in each state. That would give some of us something to strive for.
<p>
Keep up the great work.
<p>
Cheers,
<p>

after much mucking around, here is the beta2 version of the homepage

it features
- aussie and state leaderboards
- drill-down stats to individual cachers and caches
- virtuals and webcams back
- more links to geo-stuff
- standardised cache formats and a legend at the bottom
- nicer tabs and layout (10 points to the first person who identifies the website we stole, err, based this on)

the leaderboards show this calendar month's activity. this means that there will be a clear winner every month.

looking at the australian leaderboard, you'll see that NSW is leading in cache placements, but victoria is hammering the other states on finds. while WA is as active as other states, it has 4 out of the ten most popular australian caches

in victoria, rabbito has notched up 16 finds already this month (and it's only the 7th!). to see what caches rabbito has done, click on rabbito and you'll get a list. you can click on any of the caches to see who has found them and generally surf the data from various angles.

things to do
- tidy up the logo - we are working with team landcruiser on this
- roll the new style into other pages, eg search, newsletter, etc
- add cacher webpages and logos - state tabs are looking full and the tab bar is full on a smaller screen - any ideas where to put them?)
- more geocaching pictures on the home page
- selectable timeframes
- add links to the secondary site
- refine the tools section with more links, better text. if you have any text and links for this page, please let us know
- Now playing in the forum.
- complete cache list by state

your thoughts?

Very impressive!!
<p>
As for team listings, how about a drop down combo box (the Aus. one having all of them, the state tab having the local teams??) with maybe a more text link next to it to take you to a place like the cachers page that you have now if people want a full overview....
<p>Like this:<p>

Team Listing:<select name="test">
<option>CraigRat</option>
<option>Caching Kid</option>
<option>Shagzter</option>
<option>Nicklas</option>
<option>Mapkin</option>
<option>shab</option>
<option>Orac7000</option>
<option>Snuva</option>
<option>Horus</option>
<option>StevenH</option>
<option>robtas</option>
<option>Tassie Devils</option>
<option>Peakbagger Pete</option>
<option>walterup</option>
<option>bastvet</option>
</select>
<a href="http://geocaching.com.au/beta/?tab=cachers">more</a>
<p>
Possible... Definetley!!<p>Any good???....Dunno...

Lovely! I like how the photo reflects the current weather conditions.

Oh, it doesn't? Bah!

I love the cacher stats. You can get a complete recent history of a cachers whereabouts.

Not being in Oz any more, I was not on the stats page anymore, but I worked out the link to my page.

http://geocaching.com.au/cacher/Brendano

One thing I noticed: On top of the list of my hidden caches, is an archived cache that was hidden ages ago, and then archived with no finds (but lots of irate geocachers). It is listed as hidden in September 2004.

Not a complaint, just a bug (I mean undocumented feature) report.

good idea. we'll have a think of how to implement it.

oops, it was a bug. where we didn't know the when the cache was hidden, it defaulted to the top of the list. we've done a quick modification to remove it from the list. in future we'd like to put it at the bottom and allow people to enter the missing information.
