Hmmm, I am doing my regular import of ACT/NSW caches and getting this message on a lot or all of them. No changes to my settings I know of that could cause this.

Updating state of cache GC22ADX: Bridge Over the River Tar

That's not one I have seen before so I will hold off on the other 3 uploads!

Thanks for the report. This is indeed a bug. It has been addressed. Please reload the file you were having problems with. It should come up with the same message but is now rectifying the incorrect states.

This came about as we try to get all state data correct for the production of new maps for the entire world. Apologies for the hassle.

Thanks, I couldn't see any difference between the ones I had uploaded and the ones I hadn't - caches still showing as

New South Wales - Australia

on the ones I had updated and the ones I hadn't.

no worries about the hassle, though I may not get all 4 uploaded tonight :-) depending on how quick the server processes them. But will resend that one.

For those interested.

Canada, USA, New Zealand and Australia all use state abbreviations in the database. e.g. AU/VIC, AU/NSW, NZ/NI, US/CA, etc. Other countries don't have that set up in our database. So what we do is convert the long state name from the GPX file into an abbreviation if it's AU, CA, UA or NZ. Other countries get to keep their long names.

However, the database was set up with only enough room for the abbreviations, so states that were coming in from other countries, like AT (Austria) Burgenland and AT Niederösterreich were being shortened to AT/Burg and AT/Nied which are not useful to anyone.

We are looking at developing state / region / province maps for all countries around the world, so we need to have the correct state information. A code change was made to save AU, CA, NZ and US with abbreviations and others with long names. This introduced a bug where NSW was being left as New South Wales. To you it looks OK, but to the database, searches which rely on the abbreviation NSW would not have returned that state.

It was a tricky bit of code and I'm sorry I mucked it up. The data in the DB has been cleansed, so everything is back to correct and we're tidying up the international data a few thousand at a time over the next week or so. Once that's done we can start to look at what we can do with the country / state data for maps like these.

Thanks for the explanation, the odd bit of code is bound to stuff up occasionally. Could be worse, like St George Bank blowing up their database last weekend!

I'm not sure why I have all that blue in the USA either apart from maybe the odd old GC puzzle virtual that could be logged, as outside ANZ I have only visited Singapore and France since I started caching. I haven't been to the US since 1998 and that was only Hawaii and Washington state. Unless a lot of GCA moveables have gone overseas!

Interestingly though, if I run this query

http://geocaching.com.au/cacher/richary ... _finds/us/

it only shows 3 dots in the USA and not all those states.

Locationless caches seem to be the issue. I'll exclude them from the map.

Now let's see if I can get it in the right thread instead of a new message....

http://geocaching.com.au/cacher/statist ... /finds/%20 gives:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function stcount_rows() in /var/www/site/gca/docroot/cacher/statistics/html.php on line 269

Vic is OK. NSW is OK. No home state set is OK. All seems to be fine for me.

I'm using a Samsung Android phone to try and hide a cache and can't see what I remember as the accept/continue/hide link at the bottom of all the considerations info. I thought I'd used my phone to do this before, so I'm not 100% sure this is a new problem or just my phone.

The button called (| have considered the items above and wish to continue) appears for me on a mobile device using the built in browser and Chrome. Are you sure it's not just a little bit off the screen? Maybe try again and see what happens as it's working for me.

That's the one. It definitely wasn't working earlier. I'd refreshed it a couple of times even. And I did try scrolling all around. Last line before was "Geocaches listed at this site will NOT appear on geocaching.com". All working now though.

This (http://geocaching.com.au/my/query/gmap/4080) query of mine doesn't seem to work when viewed on Google Maps. It loads the map but no caches appear on it. The query works fine as a KML download though. And all my other queries seem to work fine in Google Maps.

Any ideas?

Patience. You're pulling 5000 geocaches excluding TP's. It will take a while to generate the data and your machine to render it. I have it working at my end after a minute or so.
