OK, please forgive my ability to think this out rationally at the moment, but my goggle reader just got hit with 433 RSS feeds from "All caches in Australia", consisting typically of a post looking much like this:

Kulgera Tractor (Erldunda, Northern Territory, Australia)
from All caches in Australia
Kulgera Tractor
by KlanMak on 11-Mar-11
GA3133
Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1
Type: Traditional

Kulgera Tractor

Or

Beer Googles (Prospect, South Australia, Australia)
from All caches in Australia
Beer Googles
by *Cache_or_Check* on 09-Mar-11
GC2PT96
Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 2
Type: Unknown or Mystery

Google is every geocacher's best friend. Google Search, Google Images, Google Maps and of course Google Earth. And things look even better when wearing these Beer Googles:

Have I done anything weird in a drug-induced stupor in my sleep, or is someone playing silly-boogers (dont know how?) I have (hopefully) un-subscribed!

GA2889 Troubles -- Advice Needed

Post by pjmpjm » 14 March 11 7:13 pm

This problem arose for me in past months regarding logs for 'the gnomes.'

Sometimes the log entries were doubled, even though I was using an ordinary computer and not a mobile device.

But I never reported the problem. I just deleted the extra entries.

But now it's happened again with GA2889 and this time the system won't let me delete my duplicate entry. It just hangs . . .

Many thanks for anything you can do . . .

We're doing some work in the background that is causing the deletes to run for a while. I expect that will be completed shortly.

At least the forums keeps working so you can tell us the problem :) I hope it hurries up, I wanted to log some caches but the site is all tied up. Let us know when it's good to go again :D

It should be good to go now.
We're still doing some background work, but not on the important tables.

I've found the forum stars won't update. Got 951 finds but it stays at 900 not 950.
Just so you know.
Edit - yes I did click the update button.

Hmmmmmm, I'll have a look tonight, but it looks like a glitch.

Moveable 'Found' Log Doubles

Post by pjmpjm » 18 March 11 11:05 am

I've found yet again that my single 'found' log entry has mysteriously 'doubled' for a moveable (a gnome).

This has happened from time to time over recent weeks and I think it's only happened with gnomes.

Have immediately deleted the offending second entry.

However, I thought I probably should have been reporting these issues here, in case it points to something important.

I noticed that it happened the other day to alfyboy as well, also concerning an entry for a gnome.

A log doubled once in a while is no trouble to me at all, as it's easily deleted.

Thanks again for all your work.

Yeah, I have noticed that as well. But, now that I realise I can delete the duplicates, I am. Gets confusing though...

Next time it happens, leave the two logs and post the log id here.
I need to check the database for some tell tale signs.

The stats seem to be very slow at present.

Maybe something broke in the recent upgrade.

Especially when I run "My Stats" it is just hanging. Other stats are slow as well.

I've tried this one over a few different days, so I'm pretty sure this is something that's playing up.
When I try to update my stars (currently shows as 2350 or more caches found), it does not update to the next notch up. If I look at my finds it's showing 2445.

Either that or I've missed something :D

You have, but it's not something you would generally know.
It goes from 2,350 to 2,500
I cannot explain the bizzare numbering system.
It's something we inherited.

These are the forum star levels.
