Re: Report GCA Site issues here
I did a tidy on the cache descriptions when we did the cutover.
It would appear I need to do a tidy on the cache names and short descriptions too.
I've fixed the one mentioned and I'll clean up the other tonight.
Thanks for the headsup.

Gday C@W, Don't know where you are at with the funky characters but it seems there may be a small problem with the google earth feed and charactors in the title. With the GCA feed on, have a look at S 37° 44.286 E 145° 08.648 for Schrödinger’s Cache which is displayed as Schr__dinger___s Cache. Nothing major, just thought I'd give you the heads up.

Re: Report GCA Site issues here
I've fixed everything I could find in the database.
This is cased by a slightly different issue which I'll look at tonight.
Thanks for the headsup though, it helps a lot where there are many people looking at the data.

That feed should now be working properly.
I won't go into the technical details of how the code base and database have morphed over time, but there may still be one or two "gotchas" out there.
This is part of the tidy up to utf8 so if you spot anything else, please let me know.

Re: Report GCA Site issues here
I was logging a Moveable cache and there was no spot visible for the "hints" to be typed. At least, if there was, it wasn't labelled "hints". Maybe this is to do with this field only normally being visible to the cache owner. But in this case, the cache mover needs to edit it. ??

Re: Report GCA Site issues here
Hints appear on a Moved It log type, not a Found It log type.

Re: Report GCA Site issues here
The correct procedure for a Movable is:
Log your find ASAP, go re-hide it, then place a 'Moved' log. From there you can add a hint for the next finder.

Re: Report GCA Site issues here
The "cachers by days cached" stat only seems to work on a state basis for me?

The Australian query utilises > 2GB of RAM to run, so it's an out of memory error.homedg wrote:The "cachers by days cached" stat only seems to work on a state basis for me?
I doubt there's anything I can do about this, but I'll have a look.

That's cool.
Just thought you'd want to know.
No-one else has raised it so i wouldn't put it on the priority list.

Re: Report GCA Site issues here
On my cacher page, http://geocaching.com.au/cacher/SecretSquirrel-BJC, it appears to have an icon suggesting that I have earned a 10th birthday pathtag.
I would like a pathtag, unfortunately I haven't earned it or received it
Is this a bug?
Please send me this pathtag for reporting this bug?

Thanks for letting me know.
The code was mostly correct and has now been made better.

Re: Report GCA Site issues here
so I guess I don't get a pathtag after all?
even for being a good samaritan?
even for being a good samaritan?
Re: Report GCA Site issues here
Good Samaritans don't do things with the expectation of being rewarded.
