GCA Server Stats for October 2009
It's easier to format in a blog than in the forum.

The kml files are a big hitter this month as we would expect. People like to be able to look into Google Earth and see what is around the areas they're likely to be visiting.
Windows is the biggest OS and Internet Explorer is still the highest browser, but with only 58% of the GCA market, it's not as strong as it used to be. I'm fascinated as to who is still using Netscape. As far as I'm aware GCA doesn't work well with Netscape and we stopped hacking around that browser over 2 years ago when it "officially died". I'm guessing their experience at GCA is less than optimal.
Wombat poo still comes up in the search phrases as does all forms of the spelling of geocaching. The pervs for nude geocaching are still in there, so it looks like Nude up for a Smiley is still actively being pursused (or at least watched). From some of the search criteria it looks like our database is being widely used as the cache descriptions and logs contain interesting phrases that match criteria on the search engines. We seem to be putting together a very nice database of unique Australian places to visit.
Enjoy.

It is very interesting though to see how some people do end up at GCA, though I think that kitta.rss must be pulling data a bit often, or it was someone testing something.
Interesting to see that someone are so bold that they thought an easy way to solve a cache would be to just put it into google:

First thing that sprung to mind was a bored ATM. (I know at least one bank runs them on OS/2!) Not much to do in the middle of the night but surf the net longing to up roots and go caching...roundcircle wrote:Which die hard soul is still running OS/2?

I thought the ATM system was still on Tandem machines. Or is that only the backend?

Tandem played a role in the back-end. I think they ran the secure gateway's on them. The ATM's themselves used to predominantly run OS/2 internally. Though I would think the choice of OS would be far more in the hands of the manufacturer than the operator (ie: the banks).I thought the ATM system was still on Tandem machines. Or is that only the backend?
One of the big four has only moved their front of house systems off OS/2 in the last couple of years. OS/2 version 1 no less.
I think I might enjoy the swaps that an ATM on a caching trip might leave.First thing that sprung to mind was a bored ATM. (I know at least one bank runs them on OS/2!) Not much to do in the middle of the night but surf the net longing to up roots and go caching...

We have some at our sites where I work and I was shocked when I saw one rebooting.
Since then, I've seen another also boot.
They were running Windows 98!
