The RSS Feed is back!

Simple to use, those running a modern browser will now have an option to subscribe to pages if they wish.

Those who manually need to set up a feed in their aggregator should note the following:

To view ALL posts in all forums feed is:
http://forum.geocaching.com.au/syndication.php?count=10

To have a feed of only one forum area: (in this example I'm using the Geocaching Australia Website area which is forum 1)
http://forum.geocaching.com.au/syndication.php?f=1

To view multiple forum areas, just add a comma:
http://forum.geocaching.com.au/syndication.php?f=1,12

For those who want more flexibility, heres some other parameters you can put in the URL to do whatever you want:

Code: Select all

			chars=[number] - number of characters per post, HTML and BBCode tags get stripped: syndication.php?chars=200
			count=[number] - number of most recent posts: syndication.php?count=3
			fid=[number,numberX] - forum id, multiple id's separated by a comma: syndication.php?fid=32,50
			t=1 - first post of topics only: syndication.php?t=1
			t=2 - last post of topics only: syndication.php?t=2
			type=atom - Atom format: syndication.php?type=atom
NOTE: The 'Special' forums (like the Senate area etc) will not appear on the feeds, and the feed is limited to the last 10 posts (regardless of what you put in the count= parameter)

PLEASE KEEP YOUR AGGREGATORS REFRESH INTERVAL AT SOMETHING ACCEPTABLE (>10 Minutes). ABUSE OF THE FEEDS MAY RESULT IN IP ADDRESSES BEING BLOCKED

If I may, did you use a PhpBB3 MOD to achieve this, or is it custom work?

Looking into it for another forum.

Thanks.

Looks like a problem with Google's RSS reader

I'll look a bit further tonight... I've tested the same URL in 4 other products and they work ok... only Google Reader is stuck in a rut...
