Re: *** New Site Testing - We need your help ***
Are we limited in the size of the information that we can put on to our profile page??
I have been trying to import my stats from GSAK and once I save them they seem to be getting cut short.

Is there going to be a choice of board styles? At present there's only this green and orange excrescence which does nothing for my colour blindness. (No I'm not colour blind but I feel like it when I look at this screen!) I couldn't change from 'GCA' but normally there's a few choices?
I hate to sound like a whinger and as a newbie I have no real right but I do inhabit a few different forums and this board is the worst scheme at present. No criticism of the content at all. I know you get stuck with these themes and you can never please everyone.
I also find the post date at the bottom left is a little counter-intuitive - normally it's above the post.
Otherwise it's all great - now shut up you say.

The biggest problem is the integration of user-requested customisations, and having to do it over multiple themes.Yurt wrote:Is there going to be a choice of board styles? I've enabled the default prosilver theme if you wish to use it, but it may be missing a few bits and pieces. the GCA theme will be default for all users.

I know earlier it was stated that info about forum problems would sort themselves out at a later date but has anyone else noticed that if you get an email notification regarding a topic you are watching, and you click on the link, you get taken to the first page of the discussion instead of the last post in the discussion?

Re: *** New Site Testing - We need your help ***
I've changed my URL shortcut for GCA to enter directly into the forum instead of the frontpage of the website to be able to use the "View New Posts" but I am still having problems.
On the main forum page there are at least half a dozen or so sub-forums with orange dots indicating new posts.
Use the "View New Posts" and only ONE topic is displayed.
Could a developer confirm that this is an issue?
What is the preferred process to currently display only new posts?

I have found that using the "View Active Topics" (top left hand side) seems to work betterJardry wrote:I've changed my URL shortcut for GCA to enter directly into the forum instead of the frontpage of the website to be able to use the "View New Posts" but I am still having problems.

It appears there's 2 ways phpbb handles this:Jardry wrote:I've changed my URL shortcut for GCA to enter directly into the forum instead of the frontpage of the website to be able to use the "View New Posts" but I am still having problems.

1) New posts: these are posts that have happened since your last visit ,and
2) Unread posts: Posts that have yet to be read by you, or marked as read.
By default its using method 1, whereas the old forums used method 2
I've found a way to make it use method 2,I just need to implement it.

Thanks Craig,
I was hoping that you'd be able to fix it so it acts as much as possible like the "old" forum.
Thanks for all your hard work in changing everything over to the new server. It is definitely very much appreciated.

That's the objective. We are finding that there's a LOT of differences between the versions, and we are gradually getting it all back how it was!Jardry wrote:I was hoping that you'd be able to fix it so it acts as much as possible like the "old" forum.

Prosilver is now (essentially) up to date as much as GCA green.CraigRat wrote:The biggest problem is the integration of user-requested customisations, and having to do it over multiple themes.Yurt wrote:Is there going to be a choice of board styles? The icons are a little icky, but they'll do.
Do I admit I prefer prosilver over GCA?

In the emails I get, there are three links.Bundyrumandcoke wrote:I know earlier it was stated that info about forum problems would sort themselves out at a later date but has anyone else noticed that if you get an email notification regarding a topic you are watching, and you click on the link, you get taken to the first page of the discussion instead of the last post in the discussion?
e.g.
If you want to view the newest post made since your last visit, click the
following link:
http://forum.geocaching.com.au/viewtopi ... 8&e=136558
If you want to view the topic, click the following link:
http://forum.geocaching.com.au/viewtopi ... =1&t=12524
If you want to view the forum, click the following link:
http://forum.geocaching.com.au/viewforum.php?f=1
The first link should do what you want (well, it does for me).
The second link is to the topic (not the last post).
The third link is to the forum the topic exists in.
Do you not get that?

Re: *** New Site Testing - We need your help ***
Are we talking about the colour scheme of the forum pages? How do I check out the prosilver? I too find the green scheme a little uncomfortable (and I'd have said I had fairly normal vision, mild myopia notwithstanding); I think the problem is that the darker green of the headings needs to be darker still or greener. I reckon something like this might be a bit better, although it'd be useful to see it against the pale green background. Maybe this one instead. No, having just previewed this post I don't like either of them.
I think it's the contrast; the red of the moderators shows up well; the colour needs (a) that level of contrast, (b) work well with the underlying green, and (c) also contrast sufficiently with the black.Try this. What's the colour code of the current green? (.... pfaffs around with various bits of software, probably inefficiently ....)
okay, here's another experiment. What do you think?
Okay, major mucking about follows ...
Current green (I think; taken from a screen capture of the bold green bar (on the assumption that this is the same colour as the main headings) and dumped into a couple of graphics programs and checked)
Blathering in black in between for balance.
Actually, perhaps THIS is the current heading green (I did a spot check on the heading this time)
Blathering in black in between for balance.
Alternative 1 (lorem ipsum and other pseudo-Latin codswallop)
Blathering in black in between for balance.
Alternative 2 (lorem ipsum and other pseudo-Latin codswallop)
Blathering in black in between for balance.
Alternative 3 (lorem ipsum and other pseudo-Latin codswallop)
Blathering in black in between for balance.
Alternative 4 (lorem ipsum -- okay, THAT was just being silly!)
Blathering in black in between for balance.
Alternative 5 (lorem ipsum and other pseudo-Latin codswallop)
Blathering in black in between for balance.
Ahh, I give up. Colour was never my strong point and it seems to be a subtle problem.
Can you actually change a subset of the colours, anyway?!

If you go to your User Control Panel and select Board Preferences you can change to prosilver.
I do need to add mobile phone to the member profile page in prosilver which I forgot.
