GCA Legacy Gallery

Post by caughtatwork » 19 June 09 9:19 am

In the next two to four weeks we expect to have the new webserver up and running.

At the time of migration from the old server to the new server we will be decomissioning the legacy gallery.
http://gallery.geocaching.com.au/

The username and password used to be gcauser 2teaPOT but I can't seem to get into it to edit the gallery items, but you shouldn't need password access just to view the images.

The legacy gallery was implemented some years ago as a place to store images that could be used in your caches / logs / swaggies at Geocaching Australia. With the implementation of a gallery for each cache / log / swaggie / the legacy gallery has passed its period of usefulness.

At the time of migration we will NOT be taking a backup of the legacy gallery.
ALL images that are currently stored in the legacy gallery will be deleted.
There will be NO ability to recover the images once they are deleted.

If you want anything from the legacy gallery you should take a local copy of the image sooner rather than later.

Thanks for your understanding.

And good riddance! LOL It's a horrible piece of software to use. Might break a few links on my cache pages though.... time to back up some images.

Thanks for the heads up.

I have taken the opportunity to save my cache photos from the legacy gallery and re-attach them to my cache logs, so they will remain for posterity.

I might look forward to them popping up on the GCA home page from time to time again too :D

Thanks Dik:
That's what we were hoping the headsup would accomplish.
