google map icons?

Post by mtrax » 06 April 09 8:47 am

is it possible to add the cache type in the Google maps pin
eg =T=Trad, M=Multi etc...
You currently have F=Found so can this be extended to give some more detail like the GC.com site?
thanks

No pictures (I'm feeling lazy and uncreative).

Icons will now bear the letter corresponding to the type of cache. The type will be overridden if you have found, DNF'd, owned, etc, the cache.

Enjoy working out what the codes mean, so here's a cheat list in the meantime. You can always click on the icon and get the type in the bubble anyway, so it's only one additional click.

Code: Select all

B	Moveable
C	Cache In Trash Out
E	Event
I	Wherigo
L	Locationless
M	Multi-cache
O	Other
P	Podcache
R	Earthcache
T	Traditional
U	Unknown or Mystery
V	Virtual
W	Webcam
X	Letterbox

I like the idea of the cache type being overwritten with a "F" once found. Do you have to download or change something to get this function working.
Also I have down sized the size of the cache icon via tools, options cache and now goggle earth won't let me change it back to it's orginal size ie: 64/400 any suggestion.

the Found status is set when the GCA site feed gets updated after a few days. otherwise for the impatient you can upload your GPX logs to get the status updated now.

No "found status" appears on any of the Goggle earth icons for any caches I have found, what am I missing? Download a later version of all caches from Geocaching Australia perhaps, but all the cache letter symbols T, M, V, etc appear OK, just no "found status".

Google MAPS will change to 'F'.
Google EARTH will NOT. It will just show the icon for the cache type.
